The ^1-2 million Wren *-ollege Union will be the scene for nearly ^ll of the alumni ac tivities Saturday, ''hich starts with the ^hnual business meet- thg of the alximni as sociation at 3:30 pm. ^iass reunions will Slsp be held in the College union with years of 1910, J9l5,1920, 1925,1930, 1^35,1940, 1945,1950, 1^55,, I960, 1965,and i^7o being honored. The alumni aiuiual ,^liquet, to be held tii Bridges Dining ^^ll, will begin at •30 p.m. It will be the occasion at which Members of the 1975 class will be wel comed into the ranks of the alumni,It will also be the time for awarding of "Alumnus and Alumna of the Year" honors to two former students. Activities during the weekend will also include the spring meeting of the Board of Trustees. The 36- member policy-making body will convene at 10 a.m. Saturday to approve the 1975-76 budget,review faculty appointments, and to consider a 10 year "master plan" of the college's department. Following the trus tee meeting,the board will participate in a joint luncheon with the collegers 100 mem ber Board of Advisors On Sunday, the spot light will shift from former students to present graduating seniors in the ritual of the baccalaureate and commencement ser vices. The Honorable Robert B. Morgan,Sen ator from North Caro lina will be the speaker for the bac calaureate service, which will be held in the college's Moore Auditorium at 11 a.m. Senator Morgan, a native of Harnett County, was educated Robert Morgan^ Corrmenaement Speaker in the public schools of Lillington and re ceived his bachelor's degree at East Caro lina University. In 1949 he received his L.L.B. degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. Senator Morgan saw duty with the Pacific Fleet during WORLD WAR II, and was re called to active duty during the Korean conflict. He has served in both the United States Naval Reserve and the U. S. Air Force Reserve. He recently retired as Air Force Reserve Lt. Colonel. In 1955, he was e- lected to the State Senate and served in that body for five terms. In 1965, his fellow senators named him President Pro Tempore of the Senate. Senator Morgan was e- lected Attorney Gen eral of North Caro lina in 1968, and a- gain in 1974, polling more votes than any other candidate for statewide office. In 1974, Morgan was elected to represent North Carolina in the United States Senate by a majority of 250 thousand votes. He carried 94 of the state's 100 counties. It was as Attorney General that Morgan gained recognition as a forcefull advocate of reform in the a- reas of correction, mental health, and education. He created the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division to protect the interests of the. public consiimer, and was recognized nation wide as a pioneer in the consumer pro tection movement. Morgan's continuing interest in education has led him to serve nine terms as Chair man of the Board of Trustees of East Car olina University. He is presently a member See COMMENCEMENT Page five Archie CampbetZ^ AZwnnuB of the Tear Kathy Nailing Alvmna of the Year ALUMNI Archie Campbell of Nashville, Tennessee and Kathleen Wallin of Mars Hill will be honored as Alumnus and Alumna of 1975 during Alumni Day activities Saturday. Over 280 seniors will receive their degrees Sunday after noon, the culmination of the two-day grad uation weekend. Sena tor Robert Morgan, North Carolina's rep resentative in the U- nited States Senate, will deliver the bac calaureate sermon Sun day morning in Moore Auditorium. Archie James Campbell, a native of Bull Gap, Tennessee, is a member of Mars Hill's Class of 1935. He studied art while at the Baptist-rela ted school, but later found the entertain ment business more lucrative than art. He moved to Knoxville where he was hired by radio station WNOX. After serving with the U.S.Navy in World War II, he returned to Knoxville where he had a radio show fea turing such guests as Chet Atkins. He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1958 and has be come a well-known fi gure in the recording business as well as TV, movies, and per sonal appearances. Per haps his greatest notoriety came when he signed as a comedy star with the "Hee Haw" television ser ies in 1969.He earned the coveted Country See ALUMNI Page five
