SHILOH MORNING Qn April 9, 1976, the Wren College Union, in cooperation with Eagle Produc tions, is proud to present "SHILOH MORN ING" — a new and up coming group who is "definitely on their way to the top." Their music is con trived into a mixture of Moody Blues,Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Eagles all wrapped into one great sound. SHILOH MORNING plays a wide variety of music that varies between light rock to contemporary ballads with a little flavor of country- western. The female vocalist, Jeanne McGill Walker, has "a sound a bit like Karen Carpenter, yet not enough to be an imitator". Other members of the group are Mark Hancock—key board, Mellotron, a- coustical guitar, and banjo,Ken S’chiedler— 12-strine acoustic and lead guitar, Paul Welch—bass and song writer for the group, along with Lenny March who has a "foot on every beat" *as their most excellent drummer. SHILOH MORNING has a very impressive tour list with such, colleges as Indiana University in Kokomo, Indiana; University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida; Clemson University; and many others. As guest performances they have been with such greats as Harry Chapin 1975-76 and Billy Joel & Phoebe Snow. Their special events and appearan ces have included Indianapolis 500, Sounds of the 500, and the National NEC 1975 in Washington, D. C. The concert should to be worth ier all Mars students. The has had top ratings and has a very different type of sound that will be very enjoyable. SHILOH MORNING will perform behind Moore Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. on April 9. The admission is free to all Mars Hill stu dents . prove while Hill group HT: Patti: SHILOH MORNING ta perform on April 9 at 8:00 p.m. behing Moore. aont. from p.l What do you think about apathy in the student body? I think the apathy is caused because students gripe and talk among them selves, but we (the SGA) never hear what they have to say. Students should go to the right people with their gripes; they really don't have anything to lose. I want students to know where the SGA office is and to look at the ideals of the SGA with a more positive attitude. A lot passed facts. After Senate circulated a survey. From that survey, we got some facts; now we can do something. Without feedback, our hands are almost tied. Are there any issues you would like to mention that might be put into effect next year; We are hoping that the board of trus tees will allow the president of the SGA to sit in on their meetings and serve as a non-voting member and a liason between the student body and the board. Another issue is funding for student organizations. The SGA will not just give out money. Any organization re quiring funds will have to turn in a budget request at the beginning of the fall semester. All of these will be considered at the same time by the Finance Committee who will bring them before the Senate, where it will be decided whose needs are the greatest. HT: Patti: depending on the SGA budget. Do you have any other comments? The effectiveness of the SGA depends partly on the student government re presentatives and partly on the stu dent body. I can't do anything alone- I need the support of the students through the election of a competent Senate and through voicing their opi nions and concerns about certain is sues. In other words, students have an obligation to keep informed, just as the Senate has the responsibility to inform the students. I would like to thank the students of Mars Hill College for electing me the SGA President for 1976-77.
