The Fellow ship of Christian Athletes and the Wren College Union of Mars Hill College are sponsoring the event which will be held on Saturday,May 1, 1976, 10:00 a.m., at the Mars Hill College track. The Jogathon will be open to all who would like to parti cipate. Joggers will solicit pledges at a monetary rate per lap jogged. Each jogger will be presented with a certificate stating how far they jogged for the March of Dimes,and trophies Following a special meeting to consider a protest by two of the applicants, the Board for Student Communications has announced the new editors/managers for the four student com munications media. In an unprecedented movQ the board overturned/ the original ballot ing for the position of editorship of the HILLTOP. The protest came about in the follow ing manner: two of the board members Jon Riddle and Rex Best, co-editors of this year's Laurel— who were also appli cants for the Hilltop position, were denied their right to vote through an oversight. The oversight came as a result of the board's practice of asking the applicants to leave the room following their in terview by the board while the vote is ta ken. Best and Riddle Jonathon John GutlLak Cadenza Heil Moore WVMH-FM will be given to win ners in various cate gories. As an added attrac tion, 13 year-old Donny Buffkin, of Jacksonville,Florida, will be at the Col lege track on May 1, attempting to break the world record for pogo stick jumping. He has won the cham pionship previously, but his record has been recently broken. He will have to jump 65,000 times to break the new record. Pledges to the March of Dimes can be made for him to reach his 65,000 jump goal. All funds raised from the Jogathon and from Donny Buffkin will go to the March of Dimes programs in birth defects re search, prenatal care, public health educa tion, and medical e- quipment and services. Jogathon sponsor sheets and informa tion are available at any brance of Wacho via Bank in Madison County or call 689- 1253. Campaign Chairman Shetley urges everyone inter ested in participat ing in the Jogathon to pick up a sponsor sheet and begin get ting sponsors now. left the room without voting. After the initial vote, which favored Jim Baker by a close margin. Best and Riddle protested that they had not been allowed to vote, which, as members of the board, they had the right to do. This initial meeting was on Wednesday,April 14. On Wednesday, April 21, a special meeting of the board was called to consider their protest. It was decided by the entire • board that their protest was va lid, that the question should be reconsi dered, that the board members who were vol untarily absent for the original meeting (thus missing the in terviews) would not be allowed to vote, and that the vote would be taken again allowing the two to vote. The ensuing ballot showed that Riddle and Best had won by a larger than expected margin. It should be stres sed that the entire board agreed on each point and it was the will of the board that the ballot be reconsidered. At the close of the meeting, apologies were exten ded to both Baker and Riddle and Best for the oversight. The Board for Student Communications * is composed of the edi tors/managers of each of the media, advi sors to each medium, representatives from each of the four aca demic classes, a re presentative from the S'. ‘ . Hex Best Hilltop Jonathan Riddle faculty, the Dean of Student Development, and a representative from the Student Gov ernment Association. In other actions, the position of edi tor of the Cadenza went to John Gullick, a rising senior Art, major from Greenville S.C.; Margaret Doutt, a rising junior Music major from Canton,and Deborah Queen, a ri sing senior History major from Bostic- were elected co-edi tors of the 1976—77 Laurel; and Neil Moore, a Charlotte native and rising senior English major was named manager of WVMH-FM.
