Peery, riding North on 19-23, had just passed Ivy River Bridge when he was struck from behind throwing him against the windshield. “My helmet was shattered in every possible place. It was amazing I had no neck or head injuries.” Peery stated with a smile, “My first thought while looking at the shattered helmet was that that helmet probably saved my life.” Peery recalls when he first became in terested in biking, “There was a man who advised me to purchase a helmet, but the helmet cost forty dollars. The man then questioned me, ‘well how much is your head worth?’ ” With that thought, he bought the helmet, and now with no regrets. to Contest Announced prizes will be awarded in each category at the discretion of the judges. Slides or transparencies are not accepted. Negatives must be submitted with photograph. 2. Handprint your name and campus P.O. Box on a plain piece of paper. Tape it to the back of the photo en try. Do not write on photo. 3. Mail all entries to: Photo Contest, c/o The Hilltop, P.O. Box 1148-C. Include cardboard backing in enve lope to protect photo, and negative holder to protect negative. 4. Students may submit as many entries as they wish, but are eligible for only one prize in each category. 5. Photos will be judged by an indepen dent panel on the basis of originality, composition, photographic tech nique, and relevance to admissions literature. 6. All entries become the property of the Mars Hill Admissions Office, with the right to edit, publish and use any photo without further considera tion of payment to the contestant. All photos used in publication will re ceive a one time photo credit. 7. Prizes will be awarded at the discre tion of the judges. The judges reserve the right to withhold prizes and ex tend the competition. 8. All entries receiving prizes are ineligi ble for entry into any other MHC photography contest. 9. The deadline for all entries is March 2, 1984. What’s News Students, do you have a friend who’s interested in coming to Mars Hill as a student? Well fall visitation may be just what’s needed. The admissions office is conducting a fall visitation day October 22nd. Visita tion gives prospective students and their parents a chance to become acquainted with the campus, the programs and the people here at M.H.C. Campus visitation includes a guided campus tour, a faculty fair, lunch and discussion groups for students and parents. Limited overnight accommodations are available on campus for those who must arrive Friday night. So students while you’re home on fall break, en courage those friends to come to Fall Visitation on October 22. If someone you know is interested, but cannot come on October 22, let them know that a campus tour, and interview is available through the admissions of fice throughout the year.
