Respect is one thing you have to earn, and the Lady Lions earned their fair share of it during the evening. Men’s Action The outcome of the men’s game was a little less doubtful. Whereas some boastfully predicted a 15-point victory against the Bulldogs, the final score was actually a 25-point victory, 91 to 66. Defense was the key to the Lion’s victory. Wingate appeared to head for an upset when they took a 41-38 halftime lead despite 8-0 and 9-0 runs by Mars Hill during that half. However, with 15:48 left in the game. Mars Hill took control with the second consecutive three-point jumpier from Lamont Jones (wlio is among the Division B leaders in three-pxiint field god piercentage) to make the score 50-45. Jones also improved his conference-leading pioints-scored-pier-game average with 21 pxiints in 32 minutes. Reserve center Mike Helvy played a big second half in the paint pulling down 4 tough rebounds and scoring 5 free throws when they were needed the most. Guard Matt Hurst had a good night with 7 points and 7 assists. Every player on the Lions team scored by the end of the match.
