Pagei. Mars Hill College Hilltop Thursday. Fp.hmarv 2.1991 The Cutting Edge 1994 Mars Hill Lion Basketball Schedule By Edge Edgeway Have you guys heard? There’s a brand new league here on campus. No, there is no money involved, except for the first prize at the end of the season. The recreational pool league will be having games in the loft. See Jay Hurst for details. There’s also a game club which just got started here on campus. It was started by an ambitious resident in Gibson. What is it, you ask? It’s the RISK Club of Mars Hill college. What it does have is strategy, intrigue, and hours of entertainment for anyone who is interested. Meetings are usually held once per week, and the next tournament is scheduled for the first week of February. According to the club president, there will be awards and prizes for all who participate this semester. Vice-president David Ledford, commented recently, “I feel that RISK is an...excellent board game,...and well worth the time.” Contact secretary David Johnston at 689-6039 for details about the next meeting, and what the plans are concerning the future of the The Lott is navmg a eight-ball pool tournament. All interested go by Jay Hirst's Office. The deadline for entry is Friday, February 3,1995. Well, did ya? I have it on the best authority that... Sorry, it’s been a long break. Some would say too long. So the Tampa Bay Bucs got sold for the ridiculous price of $192 million dollars. So the Rams are moving to St. Louis (pending approval). So the football season finished for us back in November. Well... this just in. ,. we had quite a few recruits stop by to visit Mars Hill during the last week of January. Indications are that all went well, and we may see a few of them back during the fall. Indoors, Coach Shook got to see a few prospective Lady Lion v-ballers come in on the 22nd. Several of them looked good, and we may see them back as well. Basketball is another story. Wins, losses, more wins, more losses, plenty of overtime. We’re basically right where we were before we started the break, except that we’re one-spot lower in the conference in both men and women’s play. Tough matches coming up in the days ahead, so come out to support your Lions and Lady Lions the rest of the season. As far as home matches left, both teams have five home matches in February. The strike has been ssettled and the hockey teams are back on the ice. In college action. Mars Hill lost to Sunny Valley Heights, 4-2. Just kidding. Mars Hill doesn’t have ^ hockey team. In baseball strike news, there is none, except to say that our guys will be taking the mound and the bases starting it^ February. Between the Varsity and JV, there will be thirteen home dates to come out and g®* ^ suntan. The Australian Open Tennis Championships have joS^ wrapped up Down Under. We ,, didn’t have any Mars Hill alunt*^ the tourney, but closer to honi^’ spring tennis will begin soon by making a “racquet” during the , home matches. (I know, that ^ bad joke.)
