Whoa!! Nude chics
everywhere!! That’s the first
expression I had when I visited the
Wiezenblatt Gallery, But soon
after looking around for a few
moments I realized that they
weren’t just pictures out of some
cheap porn flic. According to Jeff
Burden, the artist responsible
for the artwork, many different
styles were tastefully used to
create the effect of dreams,
fantasy, and reality.” Burden
used many sorts of resources to
create the blended images that
helped express what he felt, or
wanted the viewer to feel.
Computers were used, some
black and white, and some color,
and graphite was also used in
other pictures.
Not all of Burden’s pictures
are of naked women, but that
seems to be a common theme.
He used the woman as one
representation of natural beauty.
and blended it together with the
flowing overall beauty of the entire
picture to appeal to as many
people as possible.
A question that one may ask
him\herself is; “Why are these
pictures in such a fine Baptist
institution?” Well, maybe society
today is beginning to accept all
forms of art as nothing but what it
was meant to be, art. It’s good to
know that our school is not
overbearingly protective and
respects all points of view whether
it may or may not agree with it.
After all, art is meant to be viewed
and appreciated, not judged and
then interpreted for others.
