They have one son and four grandchildren and live in Nqrtl^j^^arrytown, N.Y. ’23 -- Thomas Lunday, also a Georgia Tech alumnus, is now retired; he and his wife Elizabeth live in Brooklyn. ’27 -- Father Sebastian Doris was here for Father Philip’s funeral on December 9. Father Sebastian is teaching in Rich mond this year, and it is the first time in 52 working years that he has been stationed anywhere except Belmont. ’39 -- Alan Matthews of Wheeling, W. Va. stopped by to see Father Cuthbert during October. We failed to get his current address; if anyone knows it, please send it to us. ’42 ~ Dave Couglas is with Kaiser Aluminum - Chalmette Works, New Orleans. He has just returned from assignments in Germany and Africa. ’57 -- It was good to have news of 'Al Tagllerl. He lives in California, has received several advanced degrees since leaving the Abbey, and is planning to work toward the Ph.D. in In ternational Realtions. Congratulations to Tony Sievers, FOSATLANT’S Assistant Officer in Charge, who received a Bronze Star Medal for “Meritorious service in con nection with operations in volving conflict with an opposing foreign force in the Republic of Vietnam from July 29, 1970 to August, 1971 while serving as Navy-Marine Corps Program Manager . . . Military Assistance, Headquarters, U.S. Military Assistance Command.” . ’58 ~ Marilyn Davis came by to say hello when she was home visiting her family in October. She has her own business. Studio GGG, in Coventry, England. It was good to have news of Farris Thomas. They have been in the State of Washington for the past several years, but have recently returned to Gastonia. We’re glad to have them back home again! Jack Daniels has resigned as Mayor pro tern - at Savannah Beach, Ga. His company, Westinghouse Electric, has transferred him to Lima, Ohio. ’59 - Rory Ros has been promoted to Technical Superintendent of International Paper Company’s Vicksburgh, Miss. mill. He and Joyce have three children, two boys and a girl. It was good to see Chuck Albrycht when he visited during the Thanksgiving break. ’61 - Father George Jepsen .s serving the Missionaries dos Santos Apostolos in Campinas, in Brazil. ’63 - Jim Caltaglrone is ser ving as Prosecutor for the County Solicitor in Tampa, Fla. Richard Buttimer has been elected president of the Kiwanis Club in Metter, Georgia, where he practices law. ’64 - Jeri Davis stopped by the Abbey in October. She is with a book binding company in New York. Bob Dvorak, who was also here in October, works for Peat Marwick, Mitchell Co. in Washington; he and Sharon have one child, Andrea, and live in Annandale, Va. Father Francis and Father Jude met Cash Haggerty by chance in Durham in early November. He is married, has two children and is in the lumber business in Rocky Mount. Bill Egan is Manager of the Marketing Research Department of Deering Milliken in New York. Congratulations to Kay and Bob Montgomery on the arrival of Cherie on August 24. This makes four boys and two girls for them. ’65 - John Hamer visited the Abbey on October 8, when he was in the area on business. He and Linda have two children, Carla Jean, four, and Kelly Spence, two. They live in Middle River, Maryland, where John has his own trucking business. It was Johns first visit in six years, and he was happy to see all the changes on campus. Nancy and Tim Ford and their two children, Beth and James Patrick, spent several days at the Abbey in October. Tim is in the Attorney General’s office in Lancaster, Pa. Father Cuthbert let me see the letter and picture he received from Julio Lago. The picture showed Julio and Dave Douglas (’42) at work in the Technical Department at Kaiser Aluminum-Chalmette Works, New Orleans. Julio has com pleted the MBA at Tulane. ’66 - Congratulations and best wishes to Joe Maher and Caroline Humble, who were married in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wilmington, N.C., November 13. Father Sylvester Scott is Assistant Pastor of St. Anne’s Church in Sumter, S.C. Pat Lacy is an Assistant At torney General, Commonwealth of Virginia, and specializes in constitutional law. Congratulations to Kathy and Bruce Wofford on the arrival of their baby. November 19. Enjoyed the note from Eileen Clarke giving news of the family. Eileen has completed her Master’s in Elementary Education. She lives in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. ’67 - Joe Lacher is Accounts Manager with Southern Bell in Charlotte. Lee Wahler was here for a weekend in October. He was recently promoted to Lieutenant in the Navy and has just returned from a six-week cruise aboard the Carrier USS Francis Marion, LPA 249. He is thinking of making a career of the Navy. Congratulations and best wishes to Frank “Boots” Meehan and Suzanne Stacy, who were married in the Mark Twain Chapel, Heidelberg, West Germany, on November 20. Boots is in Germany serving with the Army. He will be discharged in January. ’68 - Lt, Joe Giacofci visited the Abbey in October. He is Personnel Officer with the 437th Military Airlift Wing at the Charleston, S.C. Air Force Base. Jack LeFalvre is with Radio Station WIST in Charlotte. He and Kathy have one child, Kristin Michele, who was born in June. David Kreer, who will be released from the service in about six months, will return to his job with the Washington 'Headquarters of the U.S. General Accounting Office. Brother Jerome Oetgen was ordained a Subdeacon October 23 at St. Vincent’s Archabbey in Latrobe, Penna. ’69 — Congratulations and best wishes to Richard Russo and Karen Hall, who were married in Belmont Abbey Cathedral on October 16. Father Anselm officiated at the ceremony. Richard is with Campbell Soup in Charlotte. Frank Zinke was an usher in the wedding. Frank’s wife Barbara is secretary in the Alumni Office at the Abbey and Frank teaches at St. Michael’s in Gastonia. Henry Shelby, his wife Pat and young Patrick Michael, came by the Alumni Office when Henry was registering for the second semester here. He has 77 more days in the Marines and is stationed at Camp Lejeune. Mike Motley was here in October recruiting for the U.S. General Accounting Office. He is in the Washington Headquarters and is attending graduate school at George Washington University working on his MBA. He told us that George Englert is with the Washington Regional Office of GAO and that Don Walthall is in the service but will be back with the U.S. General Accounting Office when he is released. John Hickey was in Belmont during the Thanksgiving weekend. He is stationed at Camp Lejeune and expects to be released from the Marine Corps sometime in January. ’70 ~ Art Comstock teaches at Archbishop Neal High School in LaPlata, Md. He stopped by to say hello when he was at the Abbey in October. Lt. jg., Jim Luten also visited in October. He is an instructor at Saufley Field Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., and received his wings on August 20. Bill Seffers is stationed at Eglin AFB, Fla. Congratulations and best wishes to Jerry Kingman and Mary Raftrey, who were married November 20. Jerry now lives in Falls Church, Va. John Farrell is at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, working in the doctoral program and teaching on a part-time instructorship. Jack Walsh stopped by during the Thanksgiving break. He is a claims adjuster with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Charlotte. ’71 - Bob Dineen and Brendan Soden were down for Richard Russo’s wedding. Emily and Jon Clisham visited the Abbey in October. Jon, who is in the Air Force, has just returned from Vietnam and Okinawa and is now stationed at Eglin AFB, Fla. He is attending the University of Western Florida working on his degree in English. Congratulations and best wishes to Charles Guida and Doris Smith, who were married Oc tober 30 in Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte. Father Kenneth and Miss Smith’s pastor officiated at the wedding. Charlie Bush stopped by the Abbey in early November. He has been in the Navy since August 25 and had just com pleted basic training at Great Lakes. He is now in Machinist’s Mate School in the nuclear training program. Congratulations to Helen and Charles Fitzwilliam on the arrival of Christine Charlotte November 24. Charles is with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Charlotte and they have one other child, Gwendolyn Paige. Richard Mamele stopped by on his way home to Virginia Beach for the Christmas holidays. He is in Law School at the University of Florida. ’72 - Jack Richford, who completed his course work here at the Abbey in December, is teaching at Peninsula High School in Newport News, Va.
