Alumni Coaches
Win Titles
Two Belmont Abbey alumni had their dreams come true this year
as they were part of what all high school coaches hope for - a state
championship.
Brian Noone guided Saint John Vianney Regional Hi^ School to
the NJSIAA Parochial B State Championship.
Saint John Vianney, located in Holmdel, was the Cinderella team in
the tournament. Entering the playoff with a 12-12 record, the Land-
cers upset Saint Joseph’s, Toms River and a very powerful Bishop
Eustace Prep before defeating 0*ir Lady of the Valley (Orange) foo
the championship.
Noone, a 1971 graduate, earned a degree in political science. He
was a dean's list student, elected to Who’s Who Among Stadenta in
American Universities and Coileges. a member of Pi Gamma Mu, a
national honor society and a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity.
Kenny Szyarto is athletic director of St. John Vianney. A 1989
graduate of Belmont Abbey College. Kenny earned a degree in
business and economics. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon
fraternity.
Both Brian and Kenny have been very instrumental in recom
mending students to Belmont Abbey from St. John s and other
schools in New Jersey. .
Another Abbey Alumnus realised what being “number one” is like.
Jerry Healy, a 1970 graduate, is assistant football coach at Charlotte
Catholic High School in Charlotte. N. C. The Cougars defeated West
Montgomery and Randleman high schools before routing Clayton42-
20 to win the Rocky River Conference 2A division championship.
Jerry received a B.A. in economics and business. He was
elected to Who's Who Among StadenU in American Universities and
