Friends of Miss Pearl Harris will
be glad to know that she is recovering
nicely from a recent operation at the
Ronaoke Rapids hospital, and was
able to leave for her home at Weldon,
N. C., Sunday.

At a joint meeting of the Halifax
County Board of Education, Com
missioners and Road Board held Mon
day at Halifax, the annual budgets
for the several boards were fixed and
accepted. The total county tax rate
of $1.40 was fixed for the year 1929
1930, this being a reduction in last
year’s rate of ten cents.

spent Sunday in Norfolk, Va. They
were accompanied home by Miss Ruth
Taylor, Jerome Cook and Miss Mar
guerite Taylor and Miss Ruth Bell.
