Vilma Banky
In “This Is Heaven”
Vilma Banky, star of “This is
Heaven,” which Samuel Goldwvn
brings to the People’s Theatre on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,
was delighted with the opportunity
this picture gives her to play the part
of a modern girl in America instead
of the series of foreign parts to
which he r public have become accus
tomed to her in pictures. In “This is
Heaven.” Miss Banky’s role is that
of a Hungarian immigrant girl who
finds love and happiness while work
ing as a waitress'in a New York res
taurant.
“I am an American girl now,” she
says, quite proud of her new citi
zenship papers, “and I am tired of
being a Spanish Princess, a French
duchess and an English Indv. I? I
am an American girl, 1 want to
play American parts. I want to
wear the kind of cloths I do in real
life and behave the way I do then.
I am vc-ry happy that I can prove to
everybody that I am really Ameri
can.”
Consequently, no one was ever hap
pier than Miss Banky in New York
last fad when, in preparation of film
ing of “This is Heaven” she went
about from department store to de
partment store buying t. n dollar
dresses to fit the part of the little
waitress she was playing.
