There was an at tendance of 100 percent. They were distressed to learn the club would soon lose one of the members, Mrs. Hunt er Barbee, as they are moving to Richmond, Va., to live. Those present were Mesdames Raymond Purdy, Garfield Bunch, Jas. Leath, Hunter Barbee, E. P. Hyman, and Misses Juanita Taylor, Patience Moore, Omara Paniel, Betty and Vir ginia Gates. Miss Margaret Cox celebrated her twelfth birthday Saturday afternoon from 5:30 to 3:30 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Cox, at — “Belmont,” by inviting about twenty of her little friends to her home. Games and contests were enjoyed by the childrt n. An ice course with cake was served as refreshments. The Welfare fljepartment of the Womans Club met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. N. Wheeler. Several families were reported as hav ing been helped and several cases presented for action. Mrs. A. E. Ak ers reported that a room had been se cured to take care of all the clothing to be used by this department. The room is located over Mrs. K. Jenkins store and the members of the depart ment consider it a most desirable place. Anyone having their “Good Will Bags” filled will please take them to this room in order that the clothing may be used for needy fami lies. At ihe conclusion fo the meet ing the hostess was assisted by Miss es Ella Outland and Ruth White in serving a nice course. Those present were Mesdames W. L. Long, T. W. M. Long, A. E. Akers, T. M. Jenkins, C. N. Wheeler, Misses Ruth White and Ella (Jutland. Mr. W. S. Dean was in Richmon 1 Va., Tuesday. Mrs. Charlie Smith, daughter of J. E. Cox, was operated on at Roanoke Rapids hospital Saturday and her friends will be glad to know she is getting along nicely. -□ “Song Of The West” Is All-Talking Epic Warner Bros., who pioneered talk ing pictures through the introduction of Vitaphone, are again scoring a sen sation with “Song of the West,” 100 per cent natural color, singing, talking dancing picture in technicolor, which conies to the Rosemary Theatre Mon day, Tuesday and Wednesday. This picture is the first all-natural color, all-talking and singing produc tion to be made out of doors, with the vivid high Sierras as a scenic buck ground for the dramatic action of this story, adapted from the operetta “Rainbow” by Oscar Hammerstein IT and Laurence Stallings with Vincent Youman’s music. More than $300,000 worth of equip ment was installed oil a wild, lonely spot two hundred and fifty miles from Los Angeles in order to take these scenes. John Boles, Vivienne Segal, Marie Wells, Joe E. Brown, Sam Hardy, Rudolph Cameron Marion By ron, Edie Gribbon, Ed Martindel, and othres are in the cast. Harvey Thew did the adaption.
