A wedding of interest to both East ern and Western North Carolina was solemnized Saturday morning at ten o’clock in the apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Grizzard when Mrs. Maud L. Pendletort of Salisbury, N. C.. became the bride of Mr. J. E. Cox. Rev. V. II. Grantham, pastor of the Christian Church performed the cere mony. The apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Grizzard was beautifully deco rated, a profusion of daisies, ins and potted plants forming a lovely back ground for the brides’ party. The bride and groom entered the living room together and were met by the pastor. The impressive ring service was used. The bride was becomingly attired in a tan silk ensemble with ac ressories to match, and was wearing a shoulder corsage of lily of valley and roses. She is a graduate nurse, hav ing finished her training at Ashe ville. N. C. Mr. Cox is a prominent business man of this community, hold ing a responsible position with the Rosemary Manufacturing Co., having aeen connected with them since they organized. He was formerly from Winston-Salem. After a wedding trip oy motor to Norfolk, Newport News' and other points of interest, they will make their home in Rosemary. One of the most delightful occas ions of the sprnig season was the par ty and dance given by the alumni association of the Roanoke Rnpids hospital honoring the graduating class of the hospital and a few invited guests. The party began at seven o’clock ami they were invited to the nurses’ home. Immediately after the arrival of the guests they were es corted to the Rosemary Theatre. From h^/e they met again in the spa cious dining room of the hospital, which was made lovely for this oc casion by the use of many baskets of roses. Here they enjoyed a five course dinner, which was under the driection of Miss Temple. Following the dinner dancing was enjoyed at the Nurses’ home. Members of the as sociation sponsoring the occasion were, Mesdames Clarence Toppings, Loftin Moody. David Camp, George Bremer Joe Butts Dickens, Herman Poole, Tommy Glasgow and Mrs. Col lins. Misses Irene Clark, Lucille Carlon, Savanna McDonald. Barnes, Rook, Brown and Reed.
