PATTERSON MILL WALLOPS TRIPLE R’s. BASCOES WIN.
The Patterson Mill Silver Kings
with several new faces in the line-up
mowed the Triple R team under a
flock of runs to win the first game
in the weekly doubleheader last Sat
urday at Simmons Park. The final
score was 10 to 4. Errors by the
Tripl eR outfield and the infield play
ed a large part in the victory. Al
though Patterson Mill played bang
up baseball to come out on the long
end of the score.
Love started for the Slver Kings
but was replaced by Crowder in the
third. Ferrell led the Silver Kings at
tack with three smashing hits out of
four trips. Womble also played a good
fielding game. Bernard Edmondson
was the oustanding fielding star for
the Triple R’s besides leading his
team in hitting. Shearin and Shearin
also played good ball. Monk Crowder
of the Patterson Mill team also hit
his third home run of the League sea
son off of Edmondson in the fifth. It
was a real clout over the right field
wall.
In the second game of the double
header the Rosemary Bascoes hung up
their eighth straight game at the ex
pense of southpaw Carroll and his
Roanoke Mill outfit. The Rosemary
bunch scored five runs in the second
inning by hitting Carroll for five
straight hits, Finch leading the at
tack with a zooming home run down
Ly the score board in deep left.
Johnson stood out for the Bascoes.
He scored his second shutout in three
rtarts. He has pitched three games in
the League and allowed only one run
and that was scored by Patterson Mill
on an error. Birdsong and Manning
stood out for the Bascoes in a defen
sive way, while pitcher Johnson led
In the hitting with two out of three.
The hitting of Pendleton stood out
for the Deep Sleeps.

Awakening at 3 o’clock Monday
r?;ght to see two men standing close
t oh vs bed, one with a pistol and the
other with a flashlight,A .C. Stanton,
ormerly in the furniture repair busi
ness at Littleton but at present locat

robbers left the room with $10 from
his trousers, then with a pistol he
wounded one as he darted out through
the front door, and fired at the other
leaving through the back entrance.
As the two men were getting in
their car, which had been left parked
outside, Mr. Stanton aimed carefully
and pulled the trigger, but his gun
was empty, and the burglars drove
away. *
Chief Carter was called and he
and Mr. Stanton trailed the robbers’
car over town, but were unable to lo
cate them.
Blood spots on the front porch and
eading to the car told that one of
the bullets had found its mark.

Just Like An Ostrich
A medical authority says that a
person who tries to oover up skin
blemishes and pimples with toilet
creams and powders is just as foolish
as an ostrich that buries its head iu
the sand to avoid danger. Skin erup

stipation is throwing poisons into your
blood stream and weakening your whole
constitution. Remove the constipated
condition and you will strengthen your
system against disease and clear up
your disfigured skin. The best way to
