From this local talent coach Welch should be able to pick a team that ian compare with any amateur team. The contest will start at exactly 3:30 P m., and manager Clyde Liske an nounces that the Norfolk Navy Yard will play here the following Satur day at exactly the same hour. Troy Goodman Makes Athletic Fraternity Raleigh, June 4.—Six additional State College athletes and two man e{a*rs were informaly initated into the College Monogram Club last Friday night. The new men are Red Watt, States ville, track; Troy Goodman, Roanoke Rapids, track and baseball; Bill Ebey Hamlet, baseball; Ned Wood, Gra ham ,baseball; Arthur Wilson, Ra leigh, track; and the two track man agers, I. F. Roper of Welcome and W. E. Lawrence of Scotland Neck. James “Twee” Floyd of Salisbury, lecently elected captain of the 1932 Hack team, is president of the club. Kings Win Pennant With Knowles pitching stellar ball t.bruout the 9 innings and his team mates supporting him in fine style, the Silver Kings defeated the Baseos 12-7 in the final game of the so-call ed Textile League. Finch, Birdsong and Shearin divided the pitching du ties for the Baseos, while Speight, (Jutland. Shearin and Ryals were the hitting stars. Knowles led both clubs at bat with four out of five hits. The series ended with the Silver Kings winning five out of six games •played. “IKEY” JOHNSON WINS LETTER “Ikey” Johnson, former Jacket ath letic star won his letter in baseball at Guilford College. Johnson played outfield in high school here and play ed center in football. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M Johnson of Rosemary. Defeat Henderson In Hard Fought Match The Chockoyotte golfers journey ed down to Henderson last Wednes day and defeated the Henderson drive men by a score of 20 to 17, which was very close. Out of the fifteen Chockoyotte entries, eight defeated their opposing partners. The Hen derson course has 18 holes ard was very irregular to our golfers. They were not use to playing on such a hilly course. Dutch Seifert, a Chockoyotte mem ber from Weldon, led the field by -hooting an 84; Pruden shot an 85; Beckwith and Goodman 87, Cannon 88 Camp 90, Manning 91, Dickens and Bradley 92, Jackson 98, Gates 94 and Norwood 94, Speight 95, Weathers and Allsbrook 98. Hugh Camp in terested the golfers with his terrific drives, but he was off on his put ting to bring his score up to 90. Jackson Noses Out Knock Outs 5 to 2 Last Saturday the Knock Outs lost their first game of the season when the Jackson Bees defeated them 5 to2. Reaves Taylor, captain of the 1032 Wake Forest baseball team, pitched for the Jackson team and the Knock Outs reached him for nine hits.
