Miss Virginia Mason Allsbrook has returned to her home in Norfolk, af ter spending several weeks with Miss Bennie Allsbrook. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simmons, R. V. Allsbrook and Milton Allsbrook .of Norfolk spent the week-end with Mrs. W. H. Allsbrook. Miss Hazel Tolbert is a patient in Roanoke Rapids Hospital, having un dergone an appendicitis operation on lsat Friday. Missse Merle Bell and Annibelle Daughtry have returned from Chapel Hill where they attended summer school at the University. Charles Speight spent several days this week in Richmond. Martin has returned from Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended the Shriner’s convention. Friends of Mrs. Q, J. Simmons will be glad to know that she is recovering nicely from a recent operation for appendicitis at the Roanoke Rapids Hospital. John Ogletree has gone to Camp Jackson, Clumbia, S. C. where he will spend two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Dunlap, Miss Ellen Weeks and Mr. Burroughs of Washington, D. C., who have been guests of Mrs. Charlena Hart, have returned home. Mrs. Sydney Matthews is spend ing some time in Richmond, Va. Ladies Aid Circle No. 2 of the Christian Church met with Mrs. J. E. Cox Tuesday evening, July 21. There were fifteen members present. Devo tionals were led by Mrs. J. E. Cox and the topic was “Christian Influ ence.” The hostess served fruit punch and cake. Mrs. W. H. Pruden was hostess to the Monday Night Bridge Club at her home on Monroe Street. Mrs. O. Grif fin was winner of high score prize and was given a box of dusting pow der. Mrs. William Alii good entertained at a shower and bridge party at her home on Washington Street Friday right in honor of Miss Elmer Irene Clark whose marriage to Mr. Clyde Daniel Liske will take place during July. Liske-Clark Miss Elmer Irene Clark became the bride of Clyde Daniel Liske Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock, the wed ding taking place at the home of the [bride on Washington Street. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. E. Kirk, pastor of the Rosemary Bap tist Church, using the impressive ring ceremony. The living room was deco rated with Shasta daisies, ferns and cut flowers. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar o f ivy, ferns and long leaf pine. Silver can dlebrae held glowing candles placed in beautiful arrangement around the room. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Cladyte Cox played “Hearts and Flowers.” Miss Agatha Moore sang “At Dawning” and “O Promise Me.” To the strains of the “Bridal Chorus” from Lohengrin, the bride, attired in a lovely blue crepe dress with cor responding accessories, wearing a shoulder corsage of valley lillies and sweetheart roses, entered with the bridegroom and proceeded to the al tar. During the ceremony Miss Cox played “To A Wild Rose,” and Men delssohnn’s Wedding March was used as a recessional. Mr. and Mrs. Liske left immediately for a motor trip thru the Valley of Virginia and other points of interest. The bride is the at tractive and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G.
