These figures tell the story of two of the hardest sate-wide in tra-party simultaneous fights in the history ci North Carolina. They show that Reynolds won over Cam eron Morrison by the largest vote ever cast in a Dmocratic primal y, which vote surpsied even the most hopeful Reynolds followers. Rey nolds, himself, in his most san guine moments, would not have claimed half the 107,463 majority he received. They also show that Richard T. Fountain came up from under a 47000 lead in the first pri mary to within 13000 of Ehring haus, also a surprise. A majority for Major Fletcher over Clarence E. Mitchell was expected, the ex tent uncertain, The total vote for Governor ieu about 41,000 behind the neaiiy 390,000 cast in the first primary, but. held up ter than was ex pected. But the hatchet has been buried and the winners and losers have established friendly relations. Sen ator Cameron Morrison early saw his defeat and wired congratula tions to Reynolds, assuring nim c£ his support and worn this fail Fountain delated because of the closer vote, has congratulate! Fhrighaus and given assurance of hearty support of th centre t abet. Mitchell extended congratulations to Fletcher when he found the re sults.
