“SPECTATOR” SPECULATES The government has crossed the gold eagle with the homing pigeon. The United States declared an open-door policy for China but Japan apparently prefers to break through the wall. What this nation needs is bank ers who can look a bull market in the face and not have blind stag gers. Many strange things happen in a lifetime—like a whiskey country going crazy over the prospect of kickless beer. Apparently the Japs haven’t captured much country south of the Great Wall. At least they haven’t demanded any apologies from the Chinese. Republicans in Congress have de cided not to interfere with the Roosevelt program. We hope they will promise not to interfere with the solar system, either. The Merchants Association seems to have re-organized-—throwing out all No’s. Attention Sports Editor: Her name is Rosa Lee and if I had a nother inch of space maybe you’d get her last name. Dr. Long’s bill will even give me a chance to run for mayor but its a cinch I can’t make anyone vote for me. Dear Editor: Kindly send me a list of the things Borah is opposed to.
