PROGRAM
The Chinese say that one picture
is “worth 10,000 words” (to which
we might add more or less). At
any rate, not that we are “going
Chinese” but wei are letting the
pictures do most of the talking
this week.
Just a brief summary of Next
Week’s Peoples program: Monday
Tuesday brings “Today We Live,”
one of the year’s notable films,
offering Joan Crawford and Gary
Cooper.
Wednesday-Only: “Looking For
ward,” with Lionel Barrymore, ably
supported by Lewis Stone and Ben
ita Hume. This is the story of “The
New Deal” in Washington. After
pre-viewing it, President Roosevelt
graciously let them take the title
of his new book for the picture.
That within itself should be a fine
enough tribute for any picture.
Thursday-Friday, Carol Lom
bard and Randolph Scott share
honors in “Supernatural,” while
Rex Bell, appears in “Crashing
Broadway” Saturday only.
Tuberculosis cost France $60,
000,000 every year, according to
calculations.
Big Stage Show
Here Next Week
The management of the Peoples
is very proud to announce the re
turn engagement of America’s
greatest black-face star, Col. Jack
George, in that fast and rollicking
revue, with a college flavor,
“Campus Cut-Ups,” Wednesday
Only of next week.
This show played here shortly
after February 1st of this year,
and at that time was pronounced
by critics to be the best ever to
play the town at popular prices.
Since that time, Campus Cut-Ups
has a notable record of achieve
ments in some of the best show
towns in the Atlantic States.
Featuring an entirely new rou
tine, Campus Cut-Ups, in addition
to offering the laughable, likeable,
Jack George, brings the Kimbell
Sisters, a radio harmony trio of
beautiful girls, Shim Carlson and
his Ten Southerners, fast stage
band, Alice Perrell, late featured
dancer with Schwab and Mandell’s
“Good News,” and many others.
Shim Carlson’s Southerners, un
doubtedly the musical treat of the
season, play all of the late songs.
There will be no advance in admis
sion. Wednesday’s screen offering
is “Looking Forward,” with Lionel
Barrymore. I
AT THE LEFT—The Kimbell Sis
ters, a radio harmony trio of beau
tiful girls that really rival the
Boswell, Pickens and Morin Sis
ters. They appear wi*h “Campus
Cut-Uos,” at the Peoples Wednes

—If you saw “Campus Cut-Ups”
when it was here last February,
you couldn’t have possibly have
forgotten Shim Carlson and his
Ten Southerners. The orchestra is
shown at the right wi’h th«» direc

entirely new routine next Wednes

We Call Your Special Attention
To Next Week’s Wednesday Show
The inimitable Col. Jack George and hig
CAMPUS CUT-UPS played to the largest
house ever accorded a 1-day show in R. R.
a few months ago. We believe its the FAST
EST show on the road. Wednesday’s picture
is as timely as 3.2 beer and “off the gold”
standard, so our advice is to COME EARLY
for a seat.
