Wilson Doyle, of Brink, Va., is visiting friends and relatives here. Miss Thelma Burnette has re turned to her home near Garys burg after visiting Mrs. John Baird. Local Couple Wed At Columbia, N. C. Announcement was made Thurs day, June 28th, of the marriage of Miss Maggie Elizabeth Carter, to this city, at Columbia Township, William Henry Tanner, both of Tyrrell County, on June 10th, by Mrs. Z. W. Carter, mother of the girl. W. C. Alexander, Justice of the Peace performed the ceremony and it was witnessed by M. H. and Caudell Phelps, and Clent Taylor, friends of the young couple, all of Roanoke Rapids. Young Tanner and Miss Carter “eloped” some few days ago, and their marriage comes as a pleas ant surprise to their many friends in Roanoke Rapids. THELMA Miss Edna Stillman and Miss Thelma Boyd were guests of Miss Maude Shaw several days last week. Mrs. Jos King and Edwin King of Greensboro, spent Sunday here with relatives. Mrs. Lucy Uzzell of Mapleville, was a guest of Mrs. R. U. Hamill last week. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hockaday and children, Dorothy, and Jim mie, spent Sunday with relatives in Townsville. , Miss Catherine Mitchell spent last 'Sunday with Miss Roberta House. Miss Estelle Isles is visiting rel atives in Washington, D. C. Mrs. L. H. Pugh, Jr., of Rich mond, is visiting her sister, Mrs. D. E. Isles. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Benn, of Wel don, visited Mrs. L. L.
