Have you ever noticed a Mex ican jumping bean? The Weldon pitcher had every appearance of one—or you could even class him with a hi-de-ho singer—you know, the type that express their mean ing with their hands and body. The “Tornado” stadinm, as the Weldon diamond 'is named, has every liking to comply with the name “Tornado”. It gives us the idea of the government cotton re duction outlay. The farmers plow up their cotton, while the Weldon diamond looks like the after ef fects of the cotton plan. With exception of Wilton Dick ens, Wilbur Outland, and Bill Speight, the Tabs ball club con sists of next years Yellow Jacket players which are doing very well at the game for their age. The Baseoes can’t break their losing jinks—but Bill Alligood tells us another—he says the Democrats sure “can take it” but his team isn’t dishing it out for the time being. Miss Madeline Davis, of Bel haven, is visiting Miss Blanche Davenport. Mr. and Mrs. Georg'e Pappen dick and Miss Llewellyn Matthews spent Tuesday in Elizabeth City. Mr. T. M. Davenport is visiting in Washington and Belhaven. Miss Lyda Davis has returned to her home in Leechville. ris, Warren, Starke, Kimball. Two base hits: Ryals, Birdsong, Sulli van. Sacrifices: P. Dickens, J. Womble. Stolen bases: Everette, C. Womble, J. Womble 2. Left on bases: Bascoes 8, Kilo-Swats 12. Double plays: Ryals, Birdsong to Edmondson. Struck out: Starke 4, Finch 6. Umpires: Wiolhar, Bray. Double Header Is Announced For City Leaguers Saturday The Bascoes meet the Tabs at 2 P. M., and the Trueworths tackle the Kilo-Swats at 4 P. M., in this Saturday’s City League games. The Tabs and Trueworths are tied for top place and the Kilo Swats run a cdose third for the league top, while the Bascoes suf fered five defeats that puts then: far behind the other clubs and it looks like a tough fight for the remainder of the games to be play ed between these three teams.
