SCHOOL BUS WRECK 3 ARE SEVERELY INJURED, OTHERS BRUISED AT HALIFAX ■ J. B. Barnhill, driving school bus , No. 40, in route to Weldon High School with some twenty-five or thirty high school students from Halifax, met in head-on collision with an automobile driven by a Mr. Gibbs, of Winter Haven, Fla. The wreck occurred about one mile North of Halifax about 8:30 Tues- j day morning. Sara Jennings, Elizabeth Apple white and Rosemond Bozard were severely cut and bruised about the face. Nearly all of the students were shaken up badly, several re ceiving cuts and bruises of a mi nor nature. Mr. Gibbs and his wife received cuts and bruises, the latter bein;' unable to board train or bus and continue her journey to Florida. The front of the school bus was smashed up badly, breaking sev eral glasses and doing damages to the chassis and motor. The car • driven by Mr. Gibbs was over turned and burned to ashes. It was stated that the school bus attempted to pass a produce truck, which was traveling in the same direction, and the driver of the produce truck increased his rate of speed, thus prohibiting the school bus’s passing. This forc ed the school bus driver to go head-on into the approaching car without an opportunity to get back Michigan Auto King _-- - William S. School bus trans portation is now under supervision of the State, which does not carry insurance; nor can it be sued. At the con tusion of several interesting pro gressions the scores were collected with Mrs. Zollie Powell holding high, she was given a pirex dish, ——— and Miss Edna Wafford, holding low, was given an attractive nov elty. A salad course was served to the following players: Mesdames Zollie Powell, George Lampley, Lester Edmondson, Paul Weeks, Sam Bunn, Bill Alligood, Ivey Mohorn, Wilmer Collier, Eugene Wilson, R. L.
