| Calvary-Thelma (Too Late for Last Week) Mr. Baldy Harrell and son, Ar chie, made a business trip to Rich mond, Saturday. Mesdames M. H. Allen, Lula House and Randolph Allen attend ed the Sacred Musical Covenent in Littleton, Sunday night. Miss Elizabeth King is spending some time with her aunt, Mrs. Van Daniel, in Rocky Mount. Miss Francis House, of Weldon, •was a recent visitor with Miss Roberta House. Mr. M. .ASilley, of Durham, is spending some time with his family here. Mr. E. S. Jenkins, of Roanoke Rapids, spent the week-end with his people. Messrs Marcus H. Allen and Randolph Allen spent Wednesday in Henderson on business. Miss Mary Letha Barnes, of Weldon, spent last Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Ham ill. Mr. F. C. Myrick was seeing friends in Enfield, Sunday. Mr. Wm. Grant of Garysburg, visited Miss Lily Mae Floyd last Sunday. Mrs. R. W. Hamill and the Misses Harrell are making some improvements in their home, and beautifying it in various ways. Capt. H. F. Drake, of Richmond, was a recent visitor with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Isles and mother and children spent Sun day with relatives in Wise. Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Bryan and daughter, Catherine Allen, of Henderson, was Sunday guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Hamill. Mr. Bill Perkinson, of Norlina, was the Sunday guest of Miss Gladys Myrick. Miss Fannie |B. Johnston is showing some improvement in the Rocky Mount Hospital. Mrs. J. E. Mitchell also on our sick list is recovering nicely. A marriage of interest to friends and relatives throughout Carolina nad Virginia was quietly solemnized in Emporia, Va., Oct. 22, 1933, at Methodist parsonage, Rev. J. A. Hughes officiating, when Miss Hazel Martin, of Jackson became the bride of Mr. Wilbur Myrick, of Littleton and Weldon. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left for a honeymoon by motor to Washington, D. C., and other points. They are now at home in Weldon where Mr. Myrick is manager of the D. Pender Groc ery company. Mr. A. S. Johnston was a Sun day visitor with friends at Garys burg. Mr. Joe Mitchell was a Sunday visitor in Roanoke Rapids. Mr. Roecoe Hamill, Jr., was a Sunday visitor in Weldon with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Myrick spent Friday of last week with his parents here. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Myrick spent last week-end with her par ents in Farmville. Baptizing Ceremonv Down In Georgia An excellent'photograph of a scene, Wherein the Her. J. Gorman Garrison, of the Midway Baptist Church, near Ochlocknee, Ga., prepared to baptize a number of converts in a near-by stream as member* of the church and their friends took part in the ceremony from the shore. Misses Edna Stillman and Lilly Mae Floyd spent Sunday with the Rev. R. E. Brickhouse in Warren ton. Mr. and Mrs. Frank King and family were the Sunday guests of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Etheridge in Roanoke Rapids. Miss Thelma Boyd spent Sun day afternoon with her people in Rosemary. Mr. Matt Johnston, of Balti more, is spending a few days in the home of Mrs. Lula House. Born to Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Silby, a son, Charles Doyle, at Roanoke Rapids Hospital, Monday, Oct. 30. We offer our sincere con gratulations. Mr. Frank Newsome, of Halifax, was the guest of Miss Edna Still man Sunday. Mrs. C. E. Thompson, of the school faculty, spent the week-end at her home in Macon. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. M. Davis, of Norfolk, en route to Durham, stopped by Thelma Saturday and stayed a short while with her aunt, Mrs. M. H. Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Myrick spent last Sunday with her par ents in Macon. A neat sum was realized from a Box Party at the school building Friday night for the benefit of the Little Peoples Classes in Sunday school. Messrs Joe Mitchell and Albert Johnston made a business trip to Seaboard last Thursday. Misses Catherine Mitchell and Louise Myrick entertained Tues day evening at Miss Myrick’s home with a Hallow’een party and miscellaneous shower in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur E. Myrick, of Weldon. After the games and contests in which prizes were awarded, a Witch and Ghost brought in a large basket of beau tiful gifts for the honored guests. Afterwards Miss Myrick invited the guests into the dining room where delicious refreshments were served. Misses Stillman and Floyd pre sented a Hallow’een program at their school at New Hope on Toute one, Thelma, last Tuesday evening. The children’s parts were well acted. Mrs. Harry House entertained the members of her Sunday School class with a weiner roast Friday evening at the school building. Misses Louise Myrick and Cath erine Mitchell were joint hostesses to the members of their Sunday School class Wednesday afternoon in the spacious oak grove at Misss Myrick’s with a Hallow’een party. After several hours of games, fun and merriment in general, the children were served ice cream and cake. T. E. L. CLASS MEETS The T. E. L. Class of the Rose mary Baptist church held their regular monthly business meeting at the church Thursday night, November 2nd. After the business was discussed refreshments were erved. Thoe preent were: Mrs. G. M. Gurley, L. B. Crouch, P. A. Cook, W. J. Britton, L. M. Anderson, N. Hannon, G. C. Ricks, H. L. Davis, Brewer, Howard, Davis, Mrs. A. W. Bryant and Mr. J. W. Britton, who is teacher for the class. Visitors: Misses Fannie Lou Wall, Ruby and Euzelia Ricks, Rev. J. E. Kirk and Rev. Marshal. BICKENS-SHAW Mr. and Mrs. W. D.
