GRAND JURY VISITS SCHOOLS OF COUNTY To the Hon. R. Hunt Parker, Judge Presiding: We, the Grand Jury for the County of Halifax, beg to submit the following report: We have passed upon all bills that have been presented to our body to best of our ability. We have visited the Courthouse, jail and County Home by Com mittee, and found same in good condition. We found four Model T trucks at Eastman colored school with brakes in bad condition. LAWRENCE, Foreman Grand Jury. BIRTHDAY PARTY Little Miss Ruby Blowe was hostess to several of her friends on Thursday, Nov. 30th, it being her fourth birthday. There was a cake with four candles and she was the recipient of many birth day gifts. Refreshments wrere serv ed to the guests by her mother, Mrs. E. T. Blowe. The guests were Dorothy Tyson, Catherine Pully, Rachel Smith, Margaret Blowe, Lillian Marley, Mavis Flythe, Mildred Blowe, Junior Smith and Archie Lee. Misses Ella Brown and Virginia Ogletree, of Meredith, and Misses Evelyn Johnson and Margaret Dunning, of N. C. C. W. spent the week-end with their parents. Mrs. C. D. Fembron, of Char lotte, is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. P. Pruden. Miss Lillian Walson, of Scot land Neck, was the week-end guest of Miss Viola Glover. Miss Lottie Niblette, of Ivor, Va., was the guest of her sister, Mrs. I. T. Hancock, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bowers, of Valdese, Va., visited Mrs. J. B. Coley last week. Miss Annie Hancock and Messrs. I. T. Hancock and Rossie Han cock visited Mrs. H. K. Springs Team On Thanksgiving Trip The Aurelian Springs boys team made a Thanksgiving tour into Sampson county, with Mr. H. H. Simpson, the coach. This is his home county and he enjoyed tak ing the boys home with him. Throughout the entire trip the boys were complimented and their sportsmanship applauded on all sides. Though the team lost both games their spirits were not in the least dull because of the out side attractions. Mr. Simpson cor dially invited the boys and girls of Aurelian Springs to visit his home when they will. Aurelian Springs plays Macon in a triple header Thursday night. On the following Thursday night the boys team meets the Roanoke Rapids team at Roanoke Rapids. MRS. CAMP ENTERTAINS Mrs. Hugh Camp was hostess this week to the Monday Night Bridge Club, with eight players engaged in an interesting game of progressive contract. The highest score for the evening was made by Miss Lucille Carlon. A salad course was served at ten fifteen. Those making up the tables were Mesdames Howard Pruden, Paul Heydenrich, Carroll Wilson, Geo rge Hayes, Steve Lipscomb, Miss es Lucille Carlon, Ruth Transou and Margaret Clark.
