WELDON NEWS MISS JANET RAWLINGS Correspondent DIAL W-478-6, Weldon, N. C. WELDON POLICE CLAMP DOWN ON TRAFFIC LAWS Cops Stop Motorists Tuesday As Drive Is Launched To Enforce Speed Limit That outsiders, as well as Wel don motorists must be impressed that the traffic laws are to be obey ed, was demonstrated here Tues day, when many motorists were stopped by Weldon policemen. It seems that members of the Wel don police department have been instructed to clamp down on traf fic law violators, and scores of cars have been stopped within the last few days and given a first “friendly” warning. If this warn ing is not heeded, obviously more drastic steps will have to be taken. Although the city traffic laws have not been rigidly enforced in the past, particularly with regard to exceeding the speed limit, an increased impetus will be put on their enforcement in the future, the policemen say. The city speed limit law is for the protection of both the pedes trian and the motorist, and it is for that reason that motorists should pay particular attention to it.
