Next Week At Local Theatres PARAMOUNT TROTS OUT NEW KID STAR IN IMPERIAL FILM Young David Holt Appears In “You Belong To Me” At Imperial Mon. Tue. JANE EYRE WEDNESDAY Warner Oland In Another Of His Famous “Chan” Stories For Last Half Bill By HOWARD HANCOCK The success of fascinating Shirley Temple has started all of the producers on the hunt for tiny tots with talent, and David Holt is one of the newest “finds” in child-actors to be featured by Paramount. He appears in “You Belong to Me,” Monday-Tuesday offering at the Imperial. In this picture, he is the son of Helen Mack, who takes the role of a vaudeville trooper of rather small ability. He follows around the tank towns with his mother, acting as “hook-upper,” confidante, adviser and stage man ager. Lee Tracy is the “best friend” of the two. Tracy is a broken down, washed-out comed ian, who is the husband of Helen Morgan, headliner, who he has left because he feared he was holding her back on her road to stage glory. He still adores her and, tho’ he doesn’t know it, he is still “her man.” Helen falls for the blandish ments of a mediocre son and dance man, and they are mar ried. Little David is miserable from the first moment the actor starts to cast eyes at his mother. He hates this y indy “ham,” and in turn, the “ham” would like nothing better than to boot little Dave at a most strtegic point. Finally the boy is sent off to Military school where he eats his heart out for his mother, and the smell of grease paint once more. Presently fate writes a tragedy and little David is starred in the leading role. In fact, the little “hooker-upper” might had been without a job if it hadn’t been for his pal, Lee Tracy. “Jane Eyre” is the Wednesday picture on next week’s Imperial program. It is the story of a woman. It traces her life from early childhood to maturity. While many of the gayer, happier in cidents are depicted, it is the general tendency to accentuate her life’s bitterness, disappoint ments, and final triumphs. It is the type of picture which strong ly appeals to women, tho’ it is worthy of the support of men, and will be found to be an en joying evening’s entertainment for both. The locale is in rural Eng land, about the middle part of the last century. First Jane Ey re is unwanted, cruelly treated step-child. Then in after years, she is the inmate of an orphan asylum, as an iron diciplined in mate, and later a teacher. De spite the spirit chilling environ ment, she seeks to train her char ges by love and kindness and when she defends her right to do so, she is discharged. Now Mrs. Forbes liil YUMA, Ariz. . . . Heather An gel (above), British screen star, is now the wife of Ralph Forbes, also British screen star and former husband of Ruth Chatterton. They motored here to be wed. Warner Oland appears in the latest of the “Charlie Chan” ser ies, “Charlie Chan in London,” for the Thursday-Friday show, while John Wayne is the star of ‘Lucky Texan” for the Saturday bill.
