BEST SHOW IN YEARS FORECAST FOR MARCH 22nd MINSTREL SHOW I Rehearsals have progressed to the point where Pirate Gold, the 5th annual Minstrel-Revue, has been set down by critics as being the best of the five shows which have entertained local audiences during preceding years. This Minstrel-Revue, with almost 100 local stars, will be staged here at the Roanoke Rapids High School auditor ium. on Friday night week, March 22nd. Trunk loads of special costumes, scenery and properties will arrive this week from the most recent showing- of this Pirate Gold at Bos" ton, Mass. Director John Hutch ings is more than pleased at the progress made to date. The lar gest dance groups and girl num bers in five years will be attempted on the 22nd while the Minstrel Second Part, reversing the order of the past, is full of fun and fro lic which will leave the audience fully satisfied. The public should understand that all proceeds of this show go to a fund which is used for work among the underprivileged children of the community and for other charity work. A ticket not only insures a night’s entertainment for the fam ily but it also provides funds for carrying on a worthy cause. Expenses are heavier than most shows of this kind because of add ed number, special direction, scen ery, costumes, royalties, and all else it takes to make a real Broad way show. In order to guarantee the stand ing cost of the show, 150 seats in the school auditorium have been priced at one dollar. The balance of the house is at the usual prices of 75 cents for adults and 35 cents for children. The dollar tickets may be purchas ed from any member of the local Kiwanis Club and are not reser c ved except as to the section of 150 seats. The other 1,750 seats are the usual prices, many of them as good or better than the dollar seats the only advantage of which is that a purchaser can wait a little longer before going in. However, the curtain goes up at 8 p. m. on Friday night, March 22.
