salesmen and representatives ir
the city for its Rocky Mount Dis
trict last Friday.

presided at the meeting, which was
attended by some seventeen fieic
representatives of the company, ir
addition to men fiom the homt
office.
The local offices of the Gate
City Life Insurance Company are
located in the Impel mi Theatre
building with L. L. Pitta) <1 in
charged. A. C. McDonald and Ray
mond Tarkington are also local
representatives, while Alben, L.
Stallings represents the company
in Weldon.
After a busy day’s session, the
meeting was comp’eted with a ban
quet at the Olympia Cafe, attend
ed by the following company re
presentatives, Messrs: Gray, Lam
berson, Mason, Thompson, Step
hens, Stokes, Toier, Shortt, Bras
well, Nelson, Charles, Pittard, Ho
ward, Batchelor, McDonald, Bur
nette Stallings, and A. O. Pend
leton, Roanoke Mills Company,

Hospital Officials
Meet Here Tonight
Doctors, hospital superinten
dents and managers and other
members of the Eastern Carolina
Hospital Association met at the
Roanoke Rapids Hospital tonight
for a banquet, business session,
music moving pictures and other
interesting features.

Music was furnished by the local
male quartet, Coby Williams, Pig
Seight, John Glover and Bob And
rews, Motion picture on Insulin
were shown at the Nurses Home
after the program.

Emporia
Man Dies
in Wreck
John W. Gill, 25 years old, died
in the Roanoke Rapids Hospital
Sunday from injuries received in
an automobile wreck Saturday
night near Emporia.
Gill, with Early Moore and
Walter Andleton, all of Emporia,
was driving from Lawrenceville to
Emporia. The car left the road
and struck a fence. Gill was fatal
ly injured and the other two es
caped with minor injuries.
The deceased is survived by his
parents and one brother William
Gill of Lawrenceville. Funeral ser
vices were held Monday afternoon
at the residence by the Reverend
Mr. Mass with interment in the
Emporia cemetery.

Joe H. Epstin, personal repre
sentative of the Kahn Tailoring
Company, of Indianapolis, will be
at Farber’s, local clothing store,
on Friday and Saturday, March
15th and 16th, according to an
nouncement made this week by
Mr. William Farber, manager of
the store.
Mr. Epstin is thoroughly experi
enced in taking measurements for
custom-made clothing, and has
many local customers who await
his coming before ordering a suit.
In addition to the made-to-measure
line of clothing, Farber’s features
a large stock of suits for young
and old, Mr. Farber having been
connected in both the wholesale
and retail end of the clothing
business for many years.
Roosevelt Dollar, a 28-year-old
George’s county, Md., recently ob
plied for an automobile license in
Nashville, Tenn.
