Mrs. John Cates is visiting her sister, Mrs. Jack Hollan in Frank lin, Va. Mr. S. N. Haten, of Roanoke Rapids, and son and daughter spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rabil. Miss Willielee Johnson of Farm ville is spending a few days with her sister, Miss Natalie Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parker and Jean spent the week-end in Nor folk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Johnson and Miss Blanche Johnson spent Sun day in Rocky Mount and Spring Hope visiting friends. Mrs. George S. Thomas and chil dren of Goldsboro are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Rabil. Mr. George Warren spent Fri day in Richmond, Va. Mrs. Clifton Ryner, of Rich mond visited her sister, Miss Nan nie Pierce last week. Miss Christine Alston spent Sat urday in Rocky Mount visiting friends. Miss Helen Rowell, of Thomas ville, is spending- some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rowell before taking a trip to Washington, D. C. Mrs. Herbert Bizzelle of Golds boro is visiting a few days in Weldon with her father, Mr. W. T. Parker. Mr. and Mrs. C. Foster have re turned to their home on Fourth street after visiting their relatives in Asheville for a few during the past week. Mrs. J. M. Graham and children of Anniston, Ala., are spending a few weeks with her mother, Mrs. L. T. Garner. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Rowell are going to Washington this week for a few days. Miss Mary Belle Draper is to visit a college chum in Oxford for a short time next week. Mesdames T. M. Smithwick and H. R. Sechler, Miss Nettie Cuth rell are going to motor to Rich mond, Va., on Thursday. Mrs. G, K. Savage and daugn ter, Alice Vivian, of Clinton are visiting her mother, Mrs. E. L Hayward. •-o Announce Engagement Miss Myrtle Lipscomb -o On Tuesday evening Miss Myrtle Lipscomb was hostess with bridge entertaining her bridge club and a few additional guests. A color scheme of white, yellow and green was effectively carried out in dec orations as well as refreshments. The surprise of the evening came when refreshments were served. On each plate was a miniature bride mounted on a heart with the following announcement - Myrtle Hubert-late summer. Each guest expressed the best of wishes for bride-elect. The following guests made up the tables: Mesdames William Alligood, Allie Wood, Dick Brown, George Lampley, Eugene Wilson, Ivey Mohorn, A. O. George Zollie Powell, Edward Smoot, Clif ton Harper, Ben Parker, Clyde Liske, W. B. Allsbrook, Charlie Boykin of Halifax, Misses Edna Wafford, Helen Turner, Kathrine Hines, Bernice Hitchens, Lillie May Floyd, and Annie May O’Dell. The high score club prize was won by Mrs. A. O. George, second high Mrs. Zollie Powell, high score guest prize being won by Mrs. Ben Parker.
