Price, Chairman of the Roanoke Rapids Chapter of the American Red Cross: “The quota for this chapter was $250. and so far the chapter has received $290.00. “As chairman of this chapter I wish to thank each one of you who made the above possible. It was due to your interest and gen erosity that we succeeded. I have never found a better spirit of giv ing and cooperating than I found among the mills, drug stores, the atres, P. 0., hospitals, and the people of the community. “Since I began writing this ar ticle I have received a telegram from Cary T. Grayson. I trust you will read it and if you have not contributed to this cause, please do so, and if you would like to include your gift I will appreciate same. Since original flood relief fund quotas assigned number victims has been doubled stop latest re ports our relief directors now in field place total number men wo men and children looking to Red Cross for immediate emergency relief at three hundred eighty sev en thousand with every likelihood this figure will increase as flood crests continue stop to meet clear and essential Red Cross obliga tions to these suffering fellow citizens now imperative we ask you make every possible effort secure relief contributions ex ceeding your original chapter quota by at least fifty per cent as flood waters recede some areas we must continue feed shelter clothe homeless refugees also ex tend medical and nursing care in order prevent epidemics stop this will continue indefinite period un til Red Cross can aid in repairing damaged homes and victims can return to normal living stop feel ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ Woman’s Auxiliary •—o The Methodist Woman’s Auxil iary of Enfield met Monday aft ernoon at the parsonage with Mrs. E. O. Peeler, Mrs. S. E. Whisnant and Mrs. Cecil Mat thews joint hostesses. Due to the President, Mrs. R. A. Jordan, being very ill, the Vice President, Mrs. Egbert Barn hill, presided. Rev. E. O. Peeler conducted the devotional and made an inspiring talk on “Jesus The Ongoing Companion of Our Way to Gethsemane,” closing with a beautiful prayer in which he remembered the sick of the town. Twenty-five members and two visitors were present, Mrs. T. M. Woodall of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Charles Cadell. During the business session delegates to the N. C. Branch meeting in Thomas ville, April 14-15, were elected. Delegates were appointed and all members urged to attend the 1st District Rally at Lebanon March 29th. An Easter outfit was giv en for Lessie Price, of the Chil dren’s Home at High Point, whom the auxiliary clothes, and plans were made to remember the sick members in a special way. This being the last meeting of the fiscal year the Treasurer and the Secretary gave their annual report which were very, very good and the Auxiliary gave each a rising vote of thanks for their splendid services.
