Negro 4-H Clubs Receive Premi'ms At County Fairs T. R. Walker, Jr., Sacretary Manager, Halifax County Fair, Weldon and Tri-County Fair, Lit tleton, paid $24.00 for 4-H exhibits at each fair. The clubs did not qualify for the garden exhibit pre miums which were valued at $7.50. The exhibits were classified as follows: Best general exhibit ..$10.00 $5.00 Best 10 ears white corn _ 2.00 1.00 Best 10 ears yellow corn _ 2.00 1.00 Best canned string beans (qt.)_ 1.00 1.00 Best canned soup mixture ' (qt.) __ 1.00 .50 The first place for general ex hibit was won by Halifax County Training School 4-H Club and Eastman second at Weldon fair but the ranking was reversed at Littleton. Prizes were awarded to 1st. Dannie Pierce (Weldon club), for white corn and 2nd. Joseph Shaw (Everett club) at Weldon fair. Jesse Francis (Eastman) and Carol Alston (Littleton club) won the first and second places re spectively at Littleton. William Pittman (Eden club) received first prizes at both fairs for yellow corn; Wendell Sanders (Eden) won the second place at Weldon and Eugene Long (Weldon club) at Littleton fair. Bertha Johnson (Eastman) received first prizes for string beans at both fairs. The second prizes for beans were won by Mable Peeble (Weldon club- at Weldon and Lillian Meade (Ever ett) at Littleton. Geraldine Pitt man (Eden) won first prize for soup mixture at Weldon and sec ond at Littleton. Dorothy Brim son (Eastman) was awarded first prize for soup mixture at Littleton and Eula Reids (Roanoke Rapids) second at Weldon fair. Local leaders and club members extend their gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Walker of Littleton for the interest they have shown in 4-H Club Work.
