Peters, for mer resident of Roanoke Rapids and a prominent business man of Hope well, Va. for the past 20 years, who mysteriously disappeared June 27th while attending the Ki wanis International con 188 Enrolled In Vacation Bible School The Rosemary Baptist Church held a successf ul Vacation Bible School for two weeks from June 13th to 24tli. With an enrollment of 188 and an average attendance of 140 the three departments — Beginner, Primary and Junior — had a full work-and-play schedule each morning from eight-thirty until eleven o’clock. Commencement exercises were held at the close of the school at which time a demonstration of things learned and done by the boys and girls was given. Posters, notebooks and other handwork were on ex hibit at the exercises. The vote was unanimous, by both children and con gregation, to have another school next year. Clif Has Big Day at Huntington, W Ya. Clifton Boyd, Roanoke Rapids High School baseball and football star, made the headlines of the Huntington, W. Va. newspapers when he played his first game with that team and aided them material BROTHER DROWNED Allen Britt, 34 years old, of Reids ville, N. C. was buried in the Reids ville Cemetery, Sunday afternoon, July third, at three thirty p.m. Both Presbyterian and Baptist ministers officiated. Mr. Britt died as a re sult of accidental drowning while swimming at Kure Beach near Wil mington, N. C., Friday, July first. Mr. Britt is survived by three sisters and four brothers, one of whom is B. F. Britt of Roanoke Rapids, an employee of Roanoke Mill Number two. ly in winning over Bluefield 10-9. TOM CHEEK, former member of the High School faculty, who left Roanoke Rapids several months a go to become a Railway Clerk, has returned to Roanoke Rapids to live. Mr. Cheek is now Clerk on the At lantic Coast Line, running from Fayetteville to Washington, D. C. He will be on duty seven days, off six.
