And, now is the iseasou to give the family or guests salads at practically every luncheon, dinner or supper. Cottage cheese Is such a perfect ally to vege tables, fruits, lettuce or greens. Here’s a combination your guests will adore! LUNCHEON SALAD WITH COTTAGE CHEESE CRISPS 6 tomatoes 1 cup cottage Lettuce or other cheese greens Mayonnaise Peel tomatoes and cut through the centers in fifths, leaving an un cut portion at the base so that the sections may be spread apart but will remain attached. Place toma toes on lettuce arranged on a large platter and fill the centers with cot tage cheese. Serve with mayonnaise or French, dressing and Cheese Crisps made as follows: 1 cup flour 6 tablespoons 14 teaspoon salt butter 14 teaspoon bak- 14 cup cottage ing powder cheese 1 teaspoon 1 tablespoon celery seed milk Paprika Mix and sift the flour, salt and baking powder and stir in the celery seed. Work in the butter with the fingertips or cut in with 2 knives. Combine the cottage cheese and milk and add to. the first mixture, stirring in quickly. Turn out on floured board and roll out to 14 inch thickness. Cut with a floured knife into strips 14 inch wide and 4 Inches long. Place on a baking sheet, brush with milk or cream and sprinkle with paprika. Bake in a hot oven (425° F.) for 10 to 12 minutes or until a delicate brown. This recipe will make 35 to 40 crisps. Mitchell of Weldon was hostess on Thursday after nono when she entertained at seven tables of bridge. At the conclu sion of several progressions Mrs. C. F. Gore was winner of both the top score and slam prizes and Mrs. C. R. Daniel received the consola tion. The hostess assisted by Mrs. T. H. Tar kington was solemnized on Thurs day, August 4, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Harris, in Roanoke Rapids. The Rev. Darius A. Hudson, un cle of the bridegroom, officiated. The bride wore a frock of navy blue crepe with matching accesso ries, and her flowers were a shoul der corsage of sweetheart roses. Mrs. Tarkington is a graduate of the Roanoke Rapids High School. Mr. Tarkington is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Tarkington of Roper and for some time has been connected with the Southern Dixie Life Insurance Company.
