Sandeford, who passed away one year ago, August 28, 1937. One year has passed, dear daddy, Since you left us here to mourn; It made our hearts so lonely When God called you from our home. Our home seems empty, we miss you so; Dear daddy, we were all so happy! Why did you go? You were always helping in every way, And gained many new friends day by day. We’ll never forget the parting— We miss you more each day. We can’t forget how suddenly You were called away. Sleep on, dear daddy, and take your rest— The ones who miss you most are the ones who loved you best. God has taken you—it was j.j.is will But in our hearts you are living still. Daughter, Elmina Sandeford. Wife and sons. IN MEMORIAM In memory of my dear brother, Stanly W. Askew, who passed a way September 30th, 1937. We can’t forget that sad day God call ed you up in Heaven with Him. We miss you but God knew best. Our home is sad and lonely with out you and we hope to meet you where we will never part again. A loving sister, Mrs. J. L. Killibrew. IN MEMORIAM TOMMIE C. DAVIS, JR. On September 9, 1937, there came a darling little boy into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Collis Davis. This little blossom only stayed with us one short year, but that year will never be forgotten. He was des perately ill for only a few hours and though every effort possible was made by physicians and nurses, their efforts met with no avail. What a blessed thought to know the Master was near and on His bosom our Tommie gently pil lowed his head and sweetly breath ed his last. We try to be submissive for we realize that God called and this beautiful budding flower was plucked by the Angel of Mercy to bloom in the garden of Paradise. He leaves to mourn their loss, a mother, father, grandparents, and many near relatives. “Long, long be my heart with such memories filled, Like the vase in which roses have once been distilled, You may break, you may shatter the vase if you will; But the scent of the roses will lin ger around it still.” W. Raleigh.—If ~tht~ approximately 80,000 children born in North Carolina annually were immunized against diphtheria the first year of their life, this would mean the elimination of several hundred useless deaths every twelve months and the prevention of something like 2,000 cases each year, which leave our children with serious impairments, Dr. Carl V. Reynolds, State Health Officer, has pointed out. “Diphtheria immunization is 85 per cent effective in preventing the disease”, he said, “and conse quently, in doing away with the dangerous sequallae which follow in its wake, including principally heart complications and a weaken ed condition which, in later life, means less efficiency in the school room and, following that, in daliy employment. “Seeing that children are given the advantage of immunization is primarily the responsibility of the parent. The physician can only advise. Only last Saturday, fif teen cases were diagnosed as diph theria in the State Laboratory of Hygiene, while the expectancy for this month is already up about FAHEY and DAUGHTREY Plumbing Contractors State License No. 283 INSTALLATIONS AND REPAIR WORK Estimates Cheerfully __Furnished_ thirty points. “I wish to appeal to the parents of North Carolina to give careful consideration to this matter be fore it is too late and neglect has saddened their homes.” CHOCKOYOTTE Whole Milk and *| Q* Chocolate Milk i ***' Whipping Cream pt. 35e Skimmilk 9*. 8e Phone Orders R-436-1 RUFUS G.
