After the dinner the guests en joyed a movie party. Those en joying the hospitality of Mias Batts were Misses Arnice V. Brown, Lelia Webb, Mary Wood roof, Virginia Wilson and Gwen dolyn. C. D. Pappendick of Elizabeth City visited his brother, Geo. F. Pappendick, this week. R. E. Gray Is Buried Here R. E. Gray died Friday morning at his residence, 125 Monroe Street, He had been in ill health for ten years and had been confined to his bed about a year and a halt Funeral services were conducted at the residence Saturday after noon at three o’clock by Rev. Gor don Price, with interment in the Roanoke Rapids Cemetery. Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Carrie Gray; one son, E. R. Gray; three daughters, Mrs. Lenwood Price, Mrs. W. R. Floyd, Mrs. Geo. Hubbard, all of Roanoke Rapids; and one sister, Mrs. Addie Batton, Sedley, Va. Mr. Gray had been a resident ot Roanoke Rapids around eighteen years. Bill Holoman Has Service Station William D. (Bill) Holoman, young Weldon attorney who is Represen tative-elect from Halifax County, has purchased the interest of the Draper twins in the Sinclair Ser vice Station at Weldon. Eddie Ed wards will manage the business for Mr. Holoman. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pruden have returned from Greenville where Mr. Pruden was in business during the tobacco season. He reports a short crop there this year. Mrs. Duncan Moss has returned from a vacation spent at Russell, Kansas.
