Bright, WPA worker of Roanoke Rap ids, received a severe back injury Monday when he fell in a WPA ditch here. He is still in the Roanoke Rapids Hospital. • • Troop No. 146 Boy Scouts are collecting and repairing old toys to be distributed Christmas to children of needy families. The Scouts have purchas ed a complete set of tools and equipment to do the repairing and painting. It took Postmaster Shell months to break thru the redtape and get a new contract for the landscaping but it now looks as if this job will be worth the effort. • • Prof. Christians Neilson, Danish artist paint ing some new scenery for the High School stage, is quoted as saying he could have painted the P. O. mural in a couple hours . . He will prove his con tention when he paints a couple of pictures before an audience at the High School this Friday and Saturday nights . . the pictures will be 8 feet by 6 feet in size and will be done completely during a part of the program. • • Halifax County is credited or rather discred ited with 22 highway deaths in the first ten months of 1938 by the State Highway Safety Di __.., - '__._.
