CITY GETS READY TO GREET CROWDS HERE NEXT TUESDAY Roanoke Rapids citizens and business men will please note and follow the following plans for next Tuesday, April 18th, when Wake Forest and the University of North Carolina baseball teams play at Simmons Park at 4 p.m. 1. Please do not drive your car to the ball park. Leave it at home or downtown and walk to the park, leaving parking space free for visitors. 2. Correct false reports that there will be no room in the park. A crowd of 5,000 can be easily handled. Many must stand but they can see the game better than those in the grandstands and bleachers. We all stand up to watch a football game anyway. 3. .The Merchants A ssociation and other bus iness firms have agreed to close their places of business at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Do your Tuesday buy ing early and help the clerks get away in time to see the game. tWMfy WfiOLIN* 4. All business places will put up their flags Tuesday morning. Decorate with the college col ors. Blue and white for Carolina. Gold and black for Wake Forest. 5. Extra State Highway patrolmen and po lice will be on duty. Please help them by obeying orders and keeping sober. They have a big job on their hands Tuesday. 6. Remember, among our guests will be col lege presidents and students from the two schools, High School students from other places, newspa per men from the dailies in Raleigh, Greensboro, Norfolk, Richmond and other cities and hundreds of other guests. Let’s make them want to comQ back to Roanoke Rapids. 7. Remember, also, this game is honoring two Roanoke Rapids boys of whom we all are proud: Irvin Dickens and George Nethercutt. The eyes of the State will be on them that day. Bear with them because of the great responsibility which will be theirs. Cheer them along, no matter how nervous they may get.
