SURFACED
Approved by State WPA offi
cials, WPA project 31053, calling
for a $64,750 street paving project
in Roanoke Rapids on side street,
was sent this week to Washington
for approval by Federal WPA offi
cials.
The project calls for 2.65 miles of
paving, some curb and gutter and
some storm sewers, according to
City Engineer H. B. Christie’s plana
and specifications.
There will be 8,400 feet of curb
and gutter, which includes finishing
up Roanoke Avenue from 12th to
the Junction and widening tha
street from curb to curb. Engi
neer Christie says 60 men would
be employed 18 month on the proj
ect. The streets would be surfaced
with bituminous surface treatment

the best. Business manager Crumpler announces the schedule complete for June and July with three games a week at
