CRUEL DEATH MET BY 15 YEAR OLD NEGRO YARD-BOY A shocking killing of a 15 year old Negro boy occurred Saturday night near the Chaloner Colored School in Hodgestown when Cary Mercer, 27 year old Negro, stabbed Roscoe Pitt to death. The killing took place near Ma jor Parker’s “piccolo”, newly coin ed name for joints with a nickel odeon. The two had been just out side the place and had an argu mnet. Mercer says that Pitt hit him over the head with a bottle and he ran after the boy for about 100 yards, catching up with him and stabbing him. He was carri ed to the Roanoke Rapids Hos pital still conscious but died a few minutes after reaching there, just before midnight.
