Co. softball team were hosts at Rosemary Recreation Field to the team from Roanoke Mills No. 2 . . Previously, Rosemary had played No. 2 at the latter’s home park .. FINE NEW BUILDING ACCEPTED The new High School building, fourth unit of the present High School group in Roanoke Rapids, was formally accepted by the City School Board this morning in the presence of PWA officials, inspec tors, contractors and architect. The fine building, which cost $38,000, was erected with county and PWA funds after a shortage in room space faced the High School all year. One floor is now completed but is built to care for two more stories at a later date. There are six classrooms, an office, a library and two toilets on the finished floor. Present this morning were the members of the School Board, PWA official C. H. Rogers, his as sistant, J. J. Quinn, PWA inspec tor C. C. Burritt, architect Eric Flannagan, contractors Fred For est and Cumba and city bililding and electrical inspector Henry Fitts. It was the opinion of all that thig is the best school building in the city, more substantial and with good workmanship, a tribute to Mr. Forest and others in charge of the various phases of work. PRESIDENT RAY GOODMON VEPCO manager at Wil*cv..iston, former sales manager here, who has been elected President of the Coastal Plains League . . Ray, an old professional ball player, had his first hard job to decide this week on a game which he declared forfeited to Wilson, losing club, be cause the winner played an ineligi ble player . . For several years Ray was President of the Wil liamston club.
