JAX DEFEAT PACK IN SLOW GAME AT WASHINGTON FRL Brown Goes Over For Touchdown; Wright Gets Extra Point The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets took a listless ball game from the Pamlico Pack at Wash ington last Friday by a one touch down margin, the score being 7 to 0 when the final whistle blew. Brown, who was filling the shoes ©f the injured regular quarterback Moseley, went over for the tally and Wright plunged the extra point across. The Jax, who bogged down sev eral times within the shadow of the Pack’s goal, were successful in gaining ground, getting 8 first downs to Washington’s 4. Three times the winners drove down the field by means of line plays, bucks and reverses, to lose the ball on downs in pa y-d i r t territory. Throughout the game the Jax lack ed the punch that they displayed here in the Henderson game two weeks ago. The Washington game, the sec ond straight victory in as many starts for the Roanoke Rapids boys, put two more backfield men on the sidelines with injuries. Wright, plunging fullback, is suffering from an infected leg that has been slow in healing. Coach Hoyle is expect ing it to keep the hefty backfield man out of the game with New Bern here Friday. Moseley was out of the Washington game with an injured knee which may keep him out of Friday’s game. Brown injured an ankle that has been giv ing him trouble before and has been nursing it this week. Rightmyer, one of the outstand ing Jax thus far in the season, was the spark plug in the attack in Washington last Friday. Tillery, the other guard, also showed up well against the Pack.
