LOVE AFFAIR
Is Sunday-Only Film At Imperial
Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer
will be presented to the Imperial
patrons Sunday only when “Love
Affair” will be shown on its re
turn engagement.
Miss Dunne plays the role of a
woman of the world; Boyer is seen
as a Continental Casanova. Al
though both are engaged to people
of wealth and> are without financial
stability themselves, the two fall
desperately in love with each other
during an ocean trip.
Because it is the first real love
to come into their ill-spent lives,
they agree to forsake their chance
at luxury, Boyer to make good in
six months.
The valiant efforts of the two to
justify their existence, their respec
tive trails of sacrifice, bitter dis
appointment and brave struggle,
and an unforseen accident that
forces one to drop from the other’s
life, are events which build toward
an intensely dramatic climax when
Fate finally reunites them.

“That’s Right, You’re Wrong,”
Kay Kyser’s first motion picture
(which is reviewed on the opposite
page) will be shown Monday-Tues
day at the Imperial Theatre.

Walter Connolly, Iris Meredith
and Onslow Stevens will be seen
Wednesday only at the Imperial in
“Those High Grey Walls.”
Connolly, central figure of the
film, is cast as the beloved and
kindly country doctor, who is serv
ing a jail sentence because he let
his humanity outweigh his moral
scruples.
The story concerns the clash be
tween the competent and under
standing country physician and the
young prison surgeon whose word
is law in the penitentiary hospital.
Swift momentum is gained with
the introduction of a prisoner who
tries to leave prison in order to
obtain a cache of $10,000 he has
secreted outside. Unfortunately,
other convicts know of this hidden
gold. The two doctors join in
fighting intrigue and danger, using
their deep understanding of man
in an attempt to forestall a break.
“Hawaiian Revue,” which is re
viewed elsewhere on this page, will
be presented on the stage.

headlines and romance to thrill

the Imperial Thursday-Friday.
This production concerns the col
lege youth of the nation, who are
taking to the sky thousands strong
in the year-old Civil Aeronautics
Authority program for training ci
vilian fliers.
The story is set in a small air
field in California, selected by the
CA^? to train .students from a
neighboring college.
As you know, the purpose of this
program is the stimulation of pri
vate flying as a means of promot
ing commerce and contributing to
the progress of American aviation. ■
The film, which features Ran
dolph Scott. Preston Foster and
Margaret Lindsay, is told from the
viewpoint of the girls who love
them and the men who train these
eager lads.
Randolph Scott is the instructor
in charge; Foster is a CAA official,
described as a “tough buzzard
with eagle feathers,” who wins '
Scott’s enmity but lives to change I'
ms mmu.
And Margaret Lindsay is the sis
ter of one of the fledglings, who
doesn’t want to see her brother fly
—and doesn’t care for flyers, until
she falls in love with Scott!
The picture moves at a smart
pace, with plenty of pulse-quicken
ing flying, thrilling drama, appeal
ing romance and rib-tickling com
edy.
The supporting cast includes
Jane Darwell, Kane Richmond,
Mary Healy, George Ernest and
Maxie Rosenbloom.

HAWAIIAN
SHOW AT
IMPERIAL
The Imperial Hawaiians are
coming to the Imperial Theatre
for the Wednesday-only stage show
next week, November 23th.
As the curtains are drawn on
this unique stage attraction, the
full Hawaiian moon is shining in
all its brilliant glory and casting
its silvery reflections on the water,
as the waves of the tropical ocean
beat against the sandy shore. Then
comes one of the most beautiful
scenes ever .produced upon any
stage. A large passenger ship,
with all its lights gleaming, sails
through the water and on into
.Honolulu harbor. This scene is so
'realistic that it gains the imme
diate approval of the audience.
The Imperial Hawaiians, in their
latest creation, “A trip to the Ha
waiian Islands”, is composed of a
(troupe of talented artists, singers,
dancers and musicians which in
clude the only and Original Electro
Orchestra. The Hula Dancing girls
execute the Hawaiian dances as
only Hawaiian girls can.
The entire group form a singing
chorus, led by that wonderful con
tralto Rose Kalima, a singer of
Hawaiian songs, who has been a
regular contributor to the pro
grams of the C.B.S. for the many
years that she has been a featured
artist on the Steel Pier at Atlan
