Well! I didn’t think at first that
the boys could do it, but I’ve
changed my mind. I am talking a
bout the Minstrel to be presented
on January 2'tli and 26th at the
Recreation Club. When you con
sider the fact that you have only
five men out of twenty-seven that
have ever been on the stage before,
you can realize what I mean when
I say “I didn’t think they could do
it”-1 apologize, boys, it’s going
to be a swell show. One of the
main things in regard to the whole
affair has been the singing. Gosh!
You will be surprised at the voices.
They really sing the numbers. You
will regret it if you miss that Min
strel show.
I think that the “Rhythm Bust
ers” will be one of the hits of the
show. This quartet composed of
Buddy Hasty, David Lloyd Shearin,
Irvin Shearin and Luter Davis have
got “Oomph” and plenty of it, just
wait and see.

I still like that cowboy yell put
out by George Gurley and Tyrus
Woodrard when George Outland
bears down on “El Rancho
Grande". All they need now is a
horse, guns, and chaps—they really
have the yippee.

A letter just arrived from David
©. R Fogwell, Recreational Direc
tor of the Simmrns Co. Kenosha,
Wls. in which he says—“May all
my friends in Roanoke Rapids be
healthy, happy and prosperous dur
ing the coming New Year”—Many
people will remember the visit of
Mr. Fogwell here a few years ago.
On the recent trip of the Romance
Softball team to Chicago to enter
the National Tournament, Mr. Fog
well entertained the team on their
trip out to Kenosha, and did he do
a swell job of it.

John Marshall, Sports Editor of
the Raleigh Times, advises us that
in the State Softball Tournament
finals in Raleigh between the Ro
mancos and Pilot Mills Softball
teams, that five World's records
Were broken. The new rule books
to come out in Feb. will have full
details. So far as I knew there
was only one record broken and
that concerned only my nerves.
Dopey Dan says: “Well! I hit
three out of four Bowl games, and
consider myself lucky at that. Boy!
Is that Kimbrough a football play
er". “Maybe Tennessee will ar
range a better schedule next year”.
"Or better still maybe the next
time they go to the Rose Bowl they
Will carry all of their football squad
and the Band”.
