matter of this action will take no
tice that an action entitled as above
has been commenced in the Su
perior Court of Halifax County, N.
C. to foreclose certain tax liens and
certificates of tax sales, due the
plaintiff, Halifax County, on land in
Roanoke Rapids Township, listed
for taxation in the name of
Rena Moaning;
and the said defendants and all
other persons, will further take no
tice that they are required to be
and appear before the Clerk of the
Superior Court of Halifax County
at his office in Halifax, N. C., not
later than thirty days from the 18
day of January, 1940, and answer
or demur to the complaint, which
has been filed in the office of the
Clerk of the Superior Court of said
county, or plaintiff will apply to
the Court for the relief demanded
in the complaint.
The defendants, above named,
and all other persons having or
claiming any interest, vested or
contingent, in or to the lands or
parcels of land hereinafter describ
ed, and described in the complaint

are non-residents of the State of

foreclosing the lien of certain cer
tificates of tax sales issued by the
Sheriff of Halifax County, N. C.,
and held by the plaintiff for the
years 1932, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1939 and
other taxes, costs, interest and
penalties due any individual or
municipal corporation, against the
property listed for taxation in the
name of Rena Moaning, and de
scribed below, to-wit:
All that land in Roanoke Rapids
Township, Halifax County, N. C.
conveyed to Kena Moaning by deed
recorded in Halifax County Public
Registry in Book 387, page 55, and
that land allotted to Rena Moaning
as shown in Volume of Special
Proceedings No. 12, page 394, office
of the Clerk of the Superior Court
for Halifax County, N. C., refer
ence being expressly made to said
deed and proceedings for greater
certainty of description, and by this
reference both are made a part
hereof as fully as if herein written.
And the relief demanded in the
complaint consists wholly in ex
cluding all persons from any equi
ty, interest or lien in and to said
lands.

Roanoke Rapids Township, Halifax
County, N. C„ that was conveyed
to Cleveland or Cleaborn Harris by
those certain deeds recorded in
Halifax County Public Registry in
Book 258, page 490, and Book 316,
page 338, containing five (5) acres,
more or less, reference to said
deeds being hereby expressly made
for greater certainty of description
and by this reference are made a
part hereof as fully as if herein
written.
And the relief demanded in the
complaint consists wholly in ex

lands.
