Lions Hear Clary On Federal Aid Lion Morris Clary discussed be fore his fellow Lions here tonight the question of federal aid for state schools. Mr. Clary, who has won wide recognition for his study of school problems, serving at the present as chairman of the Public ity Committee tor the N.C.E.A., pointed out reasons why citizens should get behind a bill for fed eral aid in the present term of Congress. The program began tonight with a minute's silent tribute to Lion Joe Wells. Carlton Cannon, Joe Talley, Stu art Hall, and Elmer Starke were voted into membership. Man Admits Driving Car In Collision Junious Williams, colored, con fessed to officers this week that he was driving the car that was said to have been the cause of the three-car smashup just east of the Junction on the Weldon road last Thursday night. David Hawkins, who ran from the scene of the ac cident, was at first reported to be the driver of the machine. Williams, who was injured about the face in the accident, told the officers after the accident that Hawkins was driving the car. Later he retracted the statement, saying that he did not know why he had made such a statement to them. He was arrested this week on a charge of reckless and careless driving. The wreck involved three cars. One was the car driven by Williams in which Hawkins was riding. An other was that of Clyde Husketh whose machine was upset in the accident, he and his wife both es caping injury. The other mechine was that of R. O. Carpenter, tax collector. Mr. Carpenter and Tom Taylor were both cut about the face, but not seriously. Mr. Car penter was not admitted to the hospital, although Taylor remain ed in the hospital for a couple of days. WELDON Mrs. W. J. Boseman spent the week-end in Petersburg, Va. with relatives. Miss Nan Anthony has returned home after spending several days in Suffolk, Va.
