Mickey Rooney will be seen as Andy Hardy and Lewis Stone as the father along with the other Hardy family members in their Usual role. ****** "Swanee River” (reviewed on the opposite page) will be shown Mon day-Tuesday at the Imperial. Don Ameche and Andrea Leeds play the leading roles in the story of Ste phen C. Foster’s life. ****** “Thou Shalt Not Kill,” starring Charles Bickford and featuring Owen Davis, Jr. and Doris Day, Which will be presented Wednesday only at the Imperial, presents a sympathetic portrayal of a city youth, misunderstood by young people of Freedom when he comes to live among them. Lonely, and eager for companion ship, he turns his attention to Julie, a girl of questionable char acter employed as bar maid for a local tavern, and as a result is “talked about.” The boy, played by Owen Davis, Jr., ultimately meets and falls in love with a wholesome village girl, Mary, but her parents arbitrarily condemn the union. They are forced into a position Where they have to accept him, however, when the boy provides the blood for an emergency transfusion Which saves the life of Mary’s mother. Encouraged by this reversal in their attitude, he aspires to marry the girl, but alter he breaks with his old girl, Julie, she is mysteri ously murdered under circum stances which point to him as the killer. Enfield Party In Enfield, Mrs. W. B. Burchette entertained at bridge Friday eve ning having as special guest Miss Helen Williams, of Seaboard, who was her week-end house guest. Mrs. James Harris won the high score prize, and Miss Mable Powell the second highest. Miss Williams was presented an attractive re membrance. Mrs. Burchette served a sweet course to the following: Miss Helen Williams, Miss Mable Powell, Mrs. R. W. Baugham, Mrs. Henry Cuth rell, Mrs. Harold Burrows, Mrs. Bennie Bobbitt, Mrs. Collins Cuth rell, Mrs. Jack Whitehead, Mrs. James Harris, Mrs. D. B. Barns, Mrs. Robert Ivy, and Mrs. H. C. Futrell. Program On Mexico The pupils of the first and sec ond grades of Enfield gave a Mex ican program in the school audi torium Thursday morning. Miss Blanche Moss, the teacher, compos ed the play and put it on from ideas originating from her travels in Mexico last summer. She was assisted with piano accompaniment by Miss Dorothy Flanders, and they opened the program by all singing "South of the Border Down Mex ico Way”. The children, in costume, sang Spanish songs, and told of the cus toms, homes, occupation; demon strating the “Donkey”, a “Chicken Fight” and “How Christmas is Cel ebrated” there. Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Lynch and children, visited friends and rela tives at Brunswick and La Crosse Sunday. G. W. The story deals with a London newspaper publisher, who had been railroaded to an insane asylum— , twenty years before the story opens —by four crafty but prominent business men. With his escape, comes the front-page news that he is bent upon murdering all four of them. The advance obituaries of all of them are printed—each with the date and hour the ex-publisher has set for them to die. Three of the group meet their deaths exactly as specified, in spite of the personal guarding of the vic tims by Scotland Yard. The fourth member is ready for his rendez vous with the murderer on the ap pointed night, when the situation is thrown into an entirely different light by the finding of a rival 'newspaper reporter. “Taming of the West” with Bill Elliott in the leading role will be shown Saturday only at the Im perial. “Overland with Kit Carson” will be added.
