Those dead are Leo > Sherrod and his wife, Rosa, two children, Herman, 7 and Leo Jr., 8. The injured man who is in the Roanoke Rapids Hospital, is Irvin Simmons. He suffered a severe head injury. I The sixth person, Anne Ellison, was injured in the smash-up, but her condition was not serious e nough for her to be admitted to the hospital. All were from Rich mond. The accident occurred when the car in which the six were riding was struck and demolished by a truck driven by Andrew Matthew Holloway of Velma, Del. It is al leged that Holloway's truck, at tempting to pass another car, col lided with the Sherrod car head-on. : He was arrested by Virginia State Trooper R. H. Grizzard on a charge of manslaughter and is being held I in Emporia, Va. Seab'rd Students Present Minstrel I A black-face program modeled after the ever-popular Negro min strel was presented in the Seaboard High School by members of the ninth grade last Friday morning. Members of the student-body were highly entertained by a comical dramatization of "Little Black Sambo," and a Negro revival meet ing. With Floyd Price, class presi dent, in the role of Negro preacher and Howard Jordan as "Little Black Sambo," the following Stud ents assisted in the dramatization and singing: Ernestine Edwards, Annie Little, George Webb, Bennett Stephenson, Frank Hill, Thomas Woodie Boone, Frances Bobbitt, Lee Davis, Irma Lee Dail, John Kathleen Cooke, Kathryn Daven port, Irma Foster, Janie Gay Fost er Inez Long, Mary Price and Shir ley Warrick. Edward Bottoms server as pianist for the program. Fidelis Meeting The October meeting of the Fi delis Class of Rosemary Baptist Church was held in the home of Mrs. W. C. Jordan on Thursday evening. The regular business session was held after the devotions; then the meeting was turned into a social hour. Members and visitors present in cluded Mesdames J. W. Britton, P. A. Cook, W. M. Erwin, F. W. Haynie, H. T. Davis, L. B. Crouch, Josie Frances J. C. Simmons, W. G. Jordan, Misses Mildred Jordan and Lillian Barksdery. Rosemary Baptist Revival Continues Dr. J. D. Simon continues the revival meeting which began at the Rosemary Baptist Church last Monday. Services are being held each night at 7:30. The pastor, Rev. F. W. Haynie, extends a cor dial invitation for all to attend. On Probation William Hagewood, arrested here in January for forging a gov ernment check, was placed on pro bation at Federal Court in Wilson Tuesday. Hagewood pled guilty to forging a WPA check belonging to Mrs. Raymond Jenkins of this city. Fire At Sawmill A fire alarm was turned in from he Mitchell sawmill on the Roa îoke Rapid s-Weldon highway ruesday night about 8 o'clock. The iremen went to the scene and aid id in extinguishing a blaze that had :aught in the sawdust and logs. The ;ruck remained on the scene for ibout two hours. An estimate of he damage was not given. Service will be held Friday after noon at 3 o'clock at the home on 700 Street, and will be conducted by Rev. H. B. Lawson. Burial will be in the family cemetery. She is survived by three sons: P. O. Jr., Moses, Bahnson and two step-sons, Kench and Glenwood; three step daughters, Mrs. Euzelia Brown, Mrs, Mary Jenkins and Mrs. Thom as Avery, all of Roanoke Rapids; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. D.
