IN MEMORIAM
In memory of our father, J. B.
Rook, who passed away two years
ago Oct. 13, 1938.
Dear daddy, you are not forgotten,
Though on earth you are no more;
Still in memory you are with us
As you always were before.
The moon is shining tonight, dad
dy.
And you are far away.
Our hearts are sad and lonely
As we think of you today.
Not dead to us who loved you,
Not lost—but gone before,
You still live in our memory
And will forevermore.
His daughters.

BLOOD TESTS. WILL
HOLD CLINICS SOON
By ROBERT F. YOUNG, M. D.
County Health -Officer
As the six thousand registrants
of Halifax County went to the reg

ber 16th, the Health Department
had testing clinics located at stra

was a force of nine physicians, ten
nurses, and twelve clerks to exe
cute this program.
Every step toward physical pre
paredness is a "stitch in time".
We must have sound bodies in the
civilian population as well as in
the military population. The A
merican Army and Navy of to
morrow, of first ranking impor
tance among world powers will de
velop out of a strong and healthy
civilian population.
If too many men have tubercu
losis, syphilis, and other debilitat
ng diseases, the full strength army
and navy so vital for our very ex
istence will be postponed that
wiinli 1 nn fror
Every citizen in the draft age
should avail himself />f every op
portunity to tune himself to 'con
cert pitch' before called to the
colors. Therefore, if any registrant
failed to be blood tested October
16, he should report to his physi
cian or to the Health Department
during the next two weeks. The
following clinics will be held:
Scotland Neck—Monday 1:30 to
4:00 p. m., Health Center; Enfield—
Tuesday 1:00 to 3:00 p. m., over
