LICENSES REVOKED IN COURT A. Fant, white, failure to com ply with sanitation laws as applies to meat markets. Prayer for judgment continued on payment of costs. Edward Parker, col. of Weldon, 3 months jail for liquor. Tom Locke and Essie Locke, col. of Weldon, affray. Not guilty. Mabel Taylor, Willie Louise Jones, Lou Jones, Bee Fox, Emma Sledge, Dora Webb, Robert Dan iel, Estelle Daniel, col., were found guilty of not attending clinic for treatment and prayer for judg ment continued on payment of costs and on condition they at tend the clinic regularly until pro nounced cured. Knox Kilpatrick, white of Wel don, was found not guilty of driv ing while drunk. G. E. Strickland, white of Roa noke Rapids, was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and prayer for judgment continued on payment of costs and on good be havior for two years. Allison Faison, white of Roanoke Rapids, was fined $50 and costs. License revoked for 12 months for driving while drunk. Floyd Lassiter, white of Weldon, fined $50 and costs. LITTLETON PARTY Mrs. Cleve Stallings entertained her bridge club on Wednesday aft ernoon at her home on Moseby Av enu in Littleton. Jonquils and ja ponica were used to decorate the hall and living room. Mrs. Alice Browning won high score prize for the club members, guest high went to Mrs. W. W. Johnston, and low score prize went to Mrs. W. M. Bruce. A salad course with tea was served. Club members playing were: Mesdames H. C. Smith, Lu ther Williams, Alice Browning, L. H. Justis, A. J. May, C. A. Jones and M. Nelson. Guests were Mes dames Roger C. Moore, W. W. Johnston, W. M. Bruce, J. M. Stokes and Miss Lucy Leach. MRS. HOYLE HOSTESS The Tea Pot Club enjoyed the hospitality of Mrs. Cranford Hoyle on Saturday afternoon, contract being played at two tables. A prize for high score was awarded to Mrs. T. L. Martin at the con clusion of the game. For refresh ments a lovely salad plate was served. Friends of Miss Elizabeth Holmes will be glad to know she has re turned home after being a patient in Park View Hospital in Rocky Mount. Miss Hazel Warmack of Greens boro spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. War mack. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Underwood of Greenville spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Wyche. Miss Mary Elizabeth Moore of Norfolk, Va. spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Philip Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jenkins spent Sunday in Edenton with Mrs. Jenkins’ parents. Mrs. N. S. Barnes, Mrs. Roscoe Hamill and son spent Monday in Richmond, Va. Miss Lucile Clark of Edenton spent the week-end with relatives in Weldon. Friends of Mrs. R. W. Carter will be glad to know she has re turned home after being a patient in Roanoke Rapids Hospital. Barry Clark of Chapel Hill spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott B. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel of Norfolk, Va., spent the week-end with relatives in Weldon. Johnston - Stroup Miss Mabel Estelle Stroup, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Hol comb McClain Stroup of Denton, and Claude Earle Johnston, son of Mrs. Anthony Johnston of Lit tleton, were married in a quiet ceremony at the home of the bride in Denton on Friday evening, Feb ruary 21. MISS COX HOSTESS Miss Margaret Cox entertained her bridge club and other guests Tuesday evening at her home on Belmont Road. A color scheme of red, white and blue was used, carrying out the George Wash ington idea. Prizes were present ed to Mrs. J. D. Edwards for high score, Miss Annie Marie Fisher second, and Miss Mildred May low score. Traveling prize went to Miss Mary Frances Taylor, guest prize to Mrs. R. T. Hardy. An attractive sweet course was served, using white cup cakes dec orated with flags and cherry ice cream. Club members and guests in cluded Mesdames H. E. Gibson, Doyle Cameron, C. C. Shell, J. D. Edwards, Misses Mary Virginia Jenkins, Mildred May, Edith Moody, Mildred Balmer, Mary Mc Neil, Mildred Burton, Eileen and Annie Marie Fisher, Elizabeth Brown, Mary Frances Taylor, Nancy Wolhar, Lottie Allen, Dor othy Harris, Janet Rawlings, and Estelle Chappell of Weldon. Mrs. Rupert Hardy came in for refresh ments. Fire Saturday A grass fire near the home of Mrs. Mammie Speight on the ex tension of East Tenth Street was the cause of the alarm Saturday afternoon. The fire was extin guished before any damages were done. SEE “RAMONA” The Seaboard Dramatic Club was represented twenty-strong at the world premiere production of “Ramona”, presented under the di rection of Clifton Britton, a native of Northampton County, at E.C.T.
