DRAFT BOARD NO. 2 ASSIGNS ORDER NUMBERS 171 Registered For Draft In Lower Halifax Halifax County Draft Board No. 2 at Enfield has completed as signing order numbers for 171 young men registered in the sec ond Selective Service Act regis tration for those who reached the age of 21 since the first regis tration last October. Numbers drawn in the second lottery at Washington, D. C., have been matched up with the serial numbers of the registrants, and th» boys will not wait their turn until after all of those in the first registration have been called but their names will be distributed among the names of those remain ing to be called from the first re gistration. Since only 171 youtns were in the draft board territory, some of them have higher numbers than 171. but they are shown in the order in which called, and in this order, they will be inserted into the remainder of the first re gistration and called. The lowest number shown below will be the first called, and the highest num ber will be the last drafted. Navy Yard Team WilS Play Red Raiders Here The Red Raiders of the Roa noke Mills No. 2 are scheduled to play the Norfolk Navy Yard softball team, 1940 State Champ ions of Virginia, in a double header at the No. 2 Park here Saturday night. First game will be called at 9 o'clock, Daylight Saving Time, which will be 8 o'clock Eastern Standard Time. Virginia observes Eastern Standard Time. A game scheduled between the two teams here last Saturday night was cancelled because of the dea th of the manager of the Navy Yard team. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Martin and son, C. D., have returned from Nags Head and Belhaven. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen and daughter, Betsy, Mrs. Mark Allen and Miss Lorene Shell spent Sat urday in Richmond, Va. Throughout the house bowls of gladioli, snapdragons and other mixed flowers added much color to the occasion. Four tables of players engaged in four progres sions of contract, after which the scores were added. Mrs. George Nethercutt was winner of the high score prize, and was presented a silver bell. The honoree was pre sented silver in her chosen pattern. At five o’clock the guests were invited in the garden and were served iced punch, cake and nuts.
