WPA Office At Jackson Closed Down Shortage of labor for WPA proj ects was given as the reason for closing the Works Progress Admin istration branch office at Jackson for the Halifax-Northampton dis trict. The office closed on Wednesday of last week after being in opera tion since the Summer of 1938. Of ficials at the office stated that the branch headquarters would be re opened if and when labor conditions justified. Projects in Northampton to be completed are classrooms supple ment to the Gaston school building, the Woodland water and sewer proj ect, the Seaboard water and sewer project, and the Garysburg Negro school building project. Staff of the office included E. S. Parker, director; J. J. Buff aloe, chief timekeepe- and Miss Janie B. McDaniel, clerk.
